Swr just makes the radio happy....Lot more to it(im learning that myself)than that..
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
The pic pipe doesn't affect the swr's? I'm currently running the 5ft Francis and hate how much it bends but it performs better than any other antenna I buy. This maybe something I need to look into.

Skip has been rolling hard all day and currently. I'm listening to LSB 38, and some guy in WV on ch19 sounds clear from here in KC.
I was on 80 through Nebraska trying to talk to all the stations I heard, when I was just about to give up because I thought my barefoot radio didn't have the juice.. I contacted 1916 in Boise Idaho, and I was 950 miles away!
Galaxy 959 DTB tuned.
OneMileAttaTime and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Be careful guys, Walcott CB it's preying on Cascadia drivers. Look at their home page now. They have three solutions all extremely overpriced. One driver mirror mount package with a predator antenna, the other two are single bolt, passenger mounts, one with 5' ft firestik, the other 3' Francis.
I submit the prices are a joke, and so are the packages. A two bolt, spot mirror , with that 5' firestik, sound like a plan.
I'm currently listen to this guy skipping from Florida, clear as a bell in Omaha NE.
Coming across 70, eastbound from Junction City, I heard the no panties clown for at least 40 miles until I went north on 75.
There was a lady broadcasting for a washout, she kept saying exit 182, I think off of 480 in KC. I heard her, westbound on 70 for 100 miles. I couldn't understand that one. None of these people can hear me broadcast. But wow, what ears from my setup!
Maybe a 5' FSII would be an improvement, but, of its going to strike something and break, I might be better off with what I have.
Skip is massive on ch19 right now. -
Well did it again, bought another attenna to try on cascadia mirror mount, this time got a Siro Twin-Log 5 ft attenna at a Cb Shop in Richmond Hill Ga ( he really has a good selection of everything). The construction and workmanship is excellent much better than the Firestick. The attenna is not as flexible as other fiberglass attennas so it doesnt bend as much at highway speeds and I am able to mount it almost completely vertical. It was very simple to achieve a good swr of 1.2 on channels 1,19, and 40 buy adjusting stinger at the top. Havnt had it on long enough to judge tx and rx compared to other attennas that I have tried but early indications are that receive is excellent, and Im currently in Florida and as Darthanubis reported skip is going strong and that is not really a good receive test.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Tunes the same as a SkipShooter. The "not as flexible" is a plus. Do they make one longer? I can't see running a 5 footer on a mirror mount when you can go 7' and still be under 13'6". The taller antenna will out perform the shorter one every time.

No the pipe didn't affect the swr. being non conductive My guess is it wouldn't have any more effect than fiberglass wrapped base or mobile antennas. my biggest problem is the wind load twisting the mount around the bird perch pedestal which I had sleeved with rubber to isolate the antenna from the mount.

Wonder if a spray on rubber like plasti dip would lower the t effect or affect the ant at all
