Does anybody buy and sell cars from the auctions or know the process of buying? What type of licenses do you need? I don't have a dealer. I just want to make some money on the side

You need a dealers license for most auctions. And the ones that let non dealers buy, expect to pay high enough of a price that there is not much left over to flip it. This market is so saturated that even dealers aren't making much off of cars now. You are better off searching craigslist for deals now lol

Are you planning to work on cars yourself or pay a mechanic to do the work?

I have family members that are mechanics and can help me out with the repairs. I'll just take them the cars

I am a licensed car dealer and also a licensed motor carrier.
It works for me because if I can't fill my trailer a lot of times I will buy at the auction and finish my home load out.
Also having an auction access card allows me to move freely in and around in the auction houses.
It also allows me to do some market research when I have a broker quote me on moving one of my own cars out of the auction to home.

How many cars do you buy a month? Is it worth getting it?

Depends on which state. Some states require an license , some do not.

I can buy up to 10 cars a month....
My home bussness is a transmission/general repair shop with towing and auto sales.
We also are a fisher plow dealer and uhaul dealer along with my motor carrier.
My wife runs the shop and the auto sale when I am on the road.
    Is it worth it?
I guess but it's a lot of work that's for sure.
