It didnt frustrate me at all its hilarious and odd what you said thats all. Im on a trucking forum under new driver questions asking that and saying im going to trucking orientation...and your telling me to stay away from truckers we are hated why blah blah.... Sorry the only conclusion to that reponse was you were on drugs. Most people would think thats a weird response to tell someone heading to trucking orientation. I was done awhile ago the,mod kept coming to your defense.

Where are you starting from, and where is orientation? Let us know so we can give you some suggestions where the better truck stops are along the way.

One member had a good idea. You should start signing up for your rewards cards. You'll have a head start by the time you start training. Get your Pilot/FJ, Love's, TA/Petro, and Ambest. This will also depend on what company you are going to drive for, as they will have their preferred fuel stops.

Regarding driving your personal vehicle 1000 miles to orientation, I would only do that if I planned to leave the car at orientation permanently. Again, this will depend on the company you will drive for, but normally after orientation you are assigned a trainer and hit the road. Once you finish training you test out and get assigned a truck at whatever terminal you are at and start solo.

If your personal vehicle is now 1000 miles from home, then how are you planning to take home time? Or is your plan to clean out your first assigned truck after getting back to the orientation terminal, drive your personal vehicle back home, then get assigned another truck at your home terminal? Seems like a complicated way to go IMHO. Better to take a bus to orientation and leave the personal vehicle at home.

By the way, who is the company you will work for?

Yeah the creepy gay dudes at rest stops are weird. They stand out front and pretend to be like stretching or something. Then when a truck pulls in they stare at it. Then when a Prime truck pulls in they just run over and hop in. It's really weird.
