Great article on truck stops, real insight

Good article. Pretty much spells it out.

My dad had a 45, foot rv for 12 years starting back in 1996. Went every where with it.

His complaint at the time was the RV parks sucked and he being a developer wanted to start a chain of quality parks.

Anyways to get to my point, the days of free parking are over.

Why should these truck stops house the trucks of these mega carriers for free.

If I was Warren Buffet I would buy up every trucks stop and charge a 1000 a month per a truck.

Who is going to argue? Where are they going to go ?

Someday I hope to be a O/O and I would love to see a nice truck stop similar to a nice RV park.

30 A night with a nice community center with Grills and a pool . 900 A month to have a home on the road is priceless.


The Megas are getting away with murder with free parking and screwing over the company driver having to look for parking.

 

I've often thought about this myself, but it would never work. There is just too much trash in the trucking industry today. Would be destroyed in no time

 

I kinda like the idea of "membership" truck stops, myself. Do it with ezpass....

 

Although if you rent or are assigned a spot for the night, they could easily charge for damage just like a hotel would do. I could see a business model where companies would cover the rent. If the truck park had a grocery store, showers, restaurant, and lounge it would be attractive.

 

Make it members only. You screw up you get kicked out of the club.

 

Make it no pets, so there's no dog crap everywhere, and somehow enforce that all stinky drivers shower and put on decent clothes more using any public amenities.

 

Call it TRUMP TRUCK HAVEN in big gold letters. Build a yoooge wall around it. Declare bankruptcy. That sounds like a business plan.

 

No the club will have a Stinko Meter , no one gets by it.

You take a shower before ever entering the club, club rules, clean collared shirt to enter.

You argue , you get one warning and your out.

Everyone plays nice and has a nice place to play

Dog run for dogs. If it craps and you don't pick it up your out of the club
