Maybe having all these preplans stacked up isn't such a good idea, what with all the I90 freeway construction in Ohio and Indiana resulting in 45- and 55-mph speed limits, and very slow lumpers at the receiver...

I don't even know where to start. Bad weather. Long delays. Unpleasant clerks. Nasty 4-wheelers. Broken truck.

And all that was today, making me many hours late for my 1000 drop...uh huh. Kinda missed that one, bro. And another zero hours left. So I pick up my load tomorrow (45 miles away) and head for Kentucky. On the 4:11 hours I gain tonight. And 11 hours tomorrow.

Some days, I just hate doing this.

At the Country Pride Restaurant, young teen daughter is trying animatedly to carry on a conversation with the Dad she adores.

His head is down, his eyes stuck on his mobile device. He hopes she will stop.

One day, he will want that attention from her and she will have no more to give.

It's not unusual these days to go into a restaurant an see a family of 4 busy staring down at their mobile devise in complete silence. The only movement is their thumbs and the occasional lifting of head and devise to take a picture of their food.

when I am home I can't get my kids and sometimes wife to put the phones down. I have to threaten to throw them out of the house just so I can carry on a conversation with them. Sometimes I think they are trying to tell me something. Who knows.

Interesting factoids as I sit here in the shadow of Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans NFL team here in Nashville (which I did not know):

I was assigned this truck the first week of December 2015. Since then, I have driven it about 48,000 miles, which works out to about 9,600 miles per month. They're obviously not all paid, but it's close to the 10K I think is a good monthly driving total.

    Not too shabby.

I think they, like many others, are products of modern times. Owning a cell phone or other mobile device is easy and relatively cheap...and the user can pretty much do anything with it.

Personal, civil contact with other humans is being challenged; you hear it in the way people talk to and about others, whether in person, in public, or on a CB radio.
