I was when i lived there. High rent and mediocre wages made it impossible to get ahead. That's partly why i moved out. Wasn't worth what i was making to live there

Its almost at that point now for a lot of us. With OT slashed and all the bonuses and retention pay gone due to low oil prices its a lot harder to get ahead than it was in 2010/2011.
-
Silly question With the oil slump did the value of homes go down I'm curious if people who recently purchased a house a few years ago are upside down in today's economy if so I hope the insurance doesn't rip them off
-
They dropped a bit, but nothing life changing.

My place there was assessed about the same every year. Actually gained value on the assessment this past year. Now with the housing shortage there I'm sure values are going to go up.
-
So what's the latest? They stopped reporting it on world news, is it out now?
I guess you don't know if your house is intact yet? -
No idea at this point. Fire in town is mostly out. Just a matter of waiting until they've made the town safe enough to live in. Sounds like it will be at least 2 weeks. Company I work for wants us to work out of our north branch until they re-open the town starting this Tuesday. So far I haven't been given a plane ticket or told directly that I am to find my way up there so I'm assuming they're starting the other shift back first. Fine with me, I've got to pick up the new frame rails for my W900 on Wednesday anyways.

The fire is still raging away from the town. Headed towards the Saskatchewan border.Terry270 Thanks this.

Appearently tnere are flare ups in town.

The air is so smoky in Fort Mac today that it's hard to breathe.
