Ive tried everything,I understand, you only have a few inches of cluth travel, and dont want to get into the dead zone,or clutch brake, and when I get into trouble,I take my foot, off the clutch, and try to find a gear, slowly engaging throttle, but mostly,Ill wind up having to roll to a stop, and reset,or choose an incorrect gear.
The only trouble I have is smoothly downshifting, coming off highway,

Upshifting goes smoothly, but a red light,or other obstacle, really makes me look bad...I readily admit it,in a panic situation,I totally lose focus, and cant find a correct gear,to save my life.
Thanks for all your advise, its much appreciated.

Never had any transmission issues ever... nor ever heard of trans issues from floating. I would assume if you your no good at floating you would cause issues...lol and googling it does not say anything about causing trans damage either.

Steel Dragon... It takes time to make it a 2nd nature. Slowing down and having to skip down a few gears does depend on MPH. For instance if I slowed down to 25 I would jump to 7th (10 speed) 25mph (2+5=7th gear). 35mph (3+5=8th gear) and so on.

One thing to remember is what is your hi/lo point, i.e. above 25 hi below 25 low, you usually have around 10 mph window for a gear, if im all but stoped i can still slip it into 3rd..

You also have your commonly used gear, so your slowing down from 55 to 30 mph for a side street, you know you need 7th, so jake back in 9th, clutch out, brake to 30, a little gas, and poof, 7th gear
