    Anybody ever use one of these antenna analyzers?

    Seems like a simpler alternative to the MFJ - 259 or MFJ-226 that are available. I'm looking for a less expensive alternative because I don't need all the extra information the fancy models deliver about the antenna, I just want to accurately check my SWR and I get leary of the "made in china" $30 truck stop SWR meters. Not to mention when I add the extra coax jumper I just don't feel like I can be getting a TRUE picture of the antenna system as a whole.

    I've used one a couple times but I've never compared its accuracy to other things.
    X=0 r=50 swr=1.0
    Between those three numbers x (reactance) is the most important and SWR is about the least important number

    The problem I see with this unit is setting the correct frequency. If you connect a frequency counter then it might work.

    And that is an additional expense I suspect he was trying to avoid.

    I had the same concern. My thought is that setting the dial "close" to the 27MHz setting, I would have a reasonably close SWR figure then sweeping the dial UP or DOWN would be the same as checking ch1 vs ch40 to learn whether I should lengthen or shorten the antenna length.

    Or, that's how I THINK it would work out . . ... real world results may or may not differ from my envisioned narrative lol

    That SARK unit looks pretty cool but I think it may be a bit overkill for what I need . . . . I'm not educated enough in this field of science to make all that information work in my favor. The freq counters may be more than I need, I do want to dial in the antenna to the truck but as long as I can keep lowering the readings at the general 27 MHz band I'd be pretty happy. I'm really just trying to get one step above the $30 made in china meters. . . . . .

    I'd suggest looking at mfj watt meters. Their usa made and they stand by their products.
