How much can a owner operator make per lease on a 7 car enclose car hauler ??? Also how much could you make per week with your own authority??

Do you have customers that you can service already? What lanes do you want to run?

If you have your own authority, you'll need your own liability insurance with if you have no experience hauling cars runs about $14,000-$18,000 if you can get someone to quote it. (I just went through this)

I'm assuming you don't have a base of possible customers you can call, so you'll need to either use load boards or a dispatch service.

(I've often wondered the question of does enclosed vs open pay more.)

    $14-18k/year with a couple $1,000 down.

I'm sticking to tankers for the time being. I just had my trans go, so I'm waiting till later this year to make a move.

There's a couple of companies in Chicago that you can run under their authority and insurance to get some experience, but your going to need a trailer, plates, and you'll need to cover your fuel costs yourself. There is one company that will rent trailers, but they currently don't have any.

That's just the cost of insurance.

Again, what areas do you want to run? Certain areas have a lot of cheap rates.

I'll leave it for someone with more experience to answer. I know I've heard numerous times that S Florida, TX, parts of CA are hard to get out of with a decent rate.

Unless you have your own customers already don't waste your time or money. I have run the numbers many times and I would be taking a loss going to enclosed from open. And that was with a good paying customer giving me some outbound and inbound work.

Do you haul cars now? If so what equipment?
