Okay so I generally like my school, but I was SO angry today, but I'm kinda wondering if I have a right to be...I don't want to be brat and blame my failures on others
So my school shares their lot with a trailer drop off yard for Werner and Roehl. It's just a dirt plot of land and the students use the front part to practice backing, and the trailers get dumped in the back. Well today some idiots from Roehl put their trailers in our training spot. It matters because the training spot is paved nicely, flat and level. Since they parked there, we got stuck in the back in the deep mud.
I couldn't back in the mud! No one could! And I take my test next week, so I was so mad today was basically a day wasted. I couldn't even straight back once. It might as well been my first day again. I'm worried it's going to happen again and if I should complain...Am I being a baby for not being able to back up on uneven, hilly, and deep muddy terrain?

Seems your school should have had the trailers moved.
Badmon, CHHALL3 and bigmotor1212 Thank this. -
It's good practice... You will probably back better once you are back on asphalt again.
Like a batter practicing with two bats...
If nothing else, the first time you have to back in nasty conditions, you will now tell yourself, "this will be a piece of cake" as you remember that one day in CDL school...
Seriously, it will be fine.Redd336, double yellow and Lawdog71 Thank this. -
Yeah I thought so too...hopefully it won't be an issue tomorrow, but if it is, I want to throw a fit haha

Seems like a perfect learning opportunity for drop and hook....

Yeah I've never backed on asphalt before! Hopefully it'll make backing on the test easier...

For what it's worth, my test (aside from the road portion) was entirely on a dirt lot.

Yeah I just wish I knew how to do it? In our normal situation I can do all the backin techniques with minimal help from the instructors at this point, but today was a disaster.

Just go in tomorrow morning, stomp your foot, scream at the top of your lungs, and if you can get your head and neck to swivel on your shoulders, you know...do a 360 or at least a 180, then I can guarantee you those trailers will get moved in no time.
Lawdog71 Thanks this. -
I would say that if you truly knew how to do the maneuvers, then the type of surface would make no difference.
Once you get out there on your own, you will be required to back up where ever the customers lot happens to be. Occasionally you will even have to back in off of a public street with angry cars glaring at you, blowing their horns, and zipping by you the second there is space. Take today as a learning opportunity and carry on.Friday, double yellow, MagicTaters and 3 others Thank this.
