Physical median (grassy median, curbs, wall or barrier) = no-stopping.
Painted turning lane or median (no physical object between opposite direction traffic) = must stop.
The fun comes when cars don't know what to do and some stop and some don't, or some stop when they shouldn't .snowlauncher Thanks this. -
That's where defensive driving comes into play.

OK, here's another one.....you come up to a traffic light controlled intersection. However, for whatever reason, the electricity is out and signals aren't working. What do you do?
-
4 way stop. Or in El Paso, just punch it.Dave_in_AZ, tscottme and brian991219 Thank this.

First to the intersection (and to completely stop) has the right of way.
If two or more vehicles come to a complete stop simultaneously, then the person to the right has the right of way.
However, that is typically (albeit possibly illegally) overridden by the customary hand gesture of "go ahead".
I'm not going to try to get ahead of a Mustang in my truck (semi OR pickup), it's just going to create an unsafe tailgating situation.Toothpick1 and okiedokie Thank this. -
4 way stop.
Now right back at you:
What do you do if 1 set of signals flashes red and the other set flashes yellow? -
Wife works in the school transportation dept. Idiots flipping off the buses, ect. She finally is getting a taste of what truckers have to put up with. A whole new level of respect.
-
Move forward (with caution) between blinks and stop each time the red flasher comes back on again of course.tscottme Thanks this.
