Trans Am Still

    One trick I would use to avoid some swaps, get better miles:

    Just as you are leaving a western meat plant, like Dodge City or other Kansas plant for a delivery out east, like to New Jersey, put in a home time request for Cheyenne, WY. That way you get the long mile run east and they will route you on a long mileage run going back west, with less chance of the runs being interrupted by a swap as they need to meet your hometime request.

    After you pass the hot swap areas, cancel the hometime request. For me, just as I was leaving the Sapp Bros in Peru, IL, I would cancel the hometime request. That way, you still get the long run to Cheyenne, then keep moving with something like a pick up out of Budweiser in Colorado.

    There are a few ways you can do this trick but you get the idea. Time out a long distance hometime request to keep you moving.

    Heh evey load I have had in the past 2+ weeks has started or ended in a swap except 1. Might as well be an on-call LTL driver. Pulled into TA in OH last night thinking I would finally get my laundry caught up and truck cleaned up good, but sure enough I get a T-call right after throwing my clothes in the washer.. in a hurry to get me to a rest area to do ANOTHER swap.

    Lol the joys of it all.

    Sounds like trans am. Or more like late freight everywhere causing relays. If the planners planned correctly, the drivers got further down the road instead of slacking off there would be less relays.

    Yea, I'm done running hard to make up for another drivers truck stop time or to take care of someones pet. If it is late, they can start at the top of the list and work their way down until they find where the problem is as to why.

    Anyone figured out how to update the maps on the new garmen system yet? Keeps sending down non truck routes.

    Is ta turning the speed on their trucks up? Passed one today that was actually doing 65. It was a 2013, so it was either company or somebody a successful l/o.

    T680 or t700? The t680s can do 65.

    When I was there, my truck came out of the KW Raleigh turned up to 65, T700, company driver, didn't say anything. Hammer down.

    Lease could always go 65.

    In Post Falls, ID. Tonight. Nice and cool here. Got the windows open fan running. Getting some real good sleep.
