Ya, I hit that same issue when I first got here.

I know some guys in TN that drive for Estes linehaul and love it. One does a Nashville/Indianapolis turn every night. Another guy drives for Saia and does about the same to some other city. It's great for some people. The routine would drive me insane though. Some drivers love that type of work.
I prefer crossing state lines and being in a different state/city every night. -
I understand that! It sounds fun to be somewhere different daily I just have a situation where it would be good to be able to come home and check on my folks at least every couple weeks. If neccesary I'll do what I need to for success though. Thanks for the info this board is great for somebody like me trying to figure it all out. I'm just keeping a list of places to apply to with whatever info I can get on themChinatown and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.

JRayl and McElroy have weekends home, but don't know how the paychecks will compare to running cross country.
I didn't know Abilene has local and regional until today when MidWest_MacDaddy posted it. -
I am not sure how many we have but there are some local guys doing P&D and feeding us loads out on the road... I have swapped loads with them a few times... They start to run a load going to Florida and swap with an OTR Driver say 4 hours way from Richmond. The OTR finishes the delivery to Florida and the local guy returns the empty to the yard. Or they pick up the loads from our local customers and drop them on the yard for us OTR Drivers to grab when we hit the yard.
We have a NE Regional Driver that is home weekends and maybe a couple times a week for their 10 depending on how the loads fall. They get an extra 10 CPM for running the NE while we stay OTR. We hit the NE a few times but mainly they grab loads and bring them to the yard for us to then grab and run to the drop. -
Btw whats your opinions of reefer vs flatbed ect.?
-
The money otr vs regional is definetely something to think about...
-
It's more of an equalizer... One doesn't get as many miles in the NE due to roads, traffic, etc. as we do OTR... So at the end of the day, or year, it's probably a wash.

I see, money is the great motivator for me. The only advantage for me getting home every now and then is to check on the folks. They're elderly and got some stuff going on and my siblings don't seem to care enough to make sure they have what they need. But with more money theres always more solutions lol
