So here's the deal the company I work for allows you to bring in your own truck and lease on to them. I am interested in doing this and have been conducting research but I am having issues getting prices for permits and having a ballpark idea of what my insurance would run. I have been able to find a price for my plates and that is really about it. I realize that the price of insurance is different for everyone but ballpark ideas would at least give me an amount to look at. I am from Oregon so I know that the prices of permits will be different here. I will be operating in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and California. My company pays for everything and takes it out of your paychecks from what I understand but it would still be nice to kind of have an idea of what it would cost out of my pocket if I were to get everything on my own any help would be appreciated.

First thing you need to find out is what the company you want to work for requires and if they provide anything or help you get compliant.

You need to learn better research skills if you are thinking about getting a truck. There are company's out there that help with getting you up and running but they are expensive and don't cover everything. If you are on a budget it is research and phone calls and asking the places that provide licensing, permits and drug testing etc....

You can do everything yourself with no cost other than the registrations and insurance.

Call progressive and get a quote they seem to have the best rates for new folks. If you think they are high get a quote from ooida or some other truck insurance company and b you will see how inexpensive they are.

Thank you for giving me a couple insurance places to ask. You may have missed it, but I already know what my company provides as I mentioned in the previous thread. I have talked to them several times about it. I am just trying to find the actual prices online from the source without having to make a bunch of phone calls. I though that is why we have this wounderful internet lol, but I guess I will just have to call.

You never been insured that's why. Go to a smaller insurance broker. They can give you half the rate

Call me crazy, but isn't picking up the phone and calling them yourself kinda the definition of "doing some research"? Especially since you said "the price of insurance is different for everyone" in the very next breath. Like ????

If you are leasing on to them, the only insurance you'll need is bobtail which is typically less than $50 a month. If you want physical damage on your tractor, it's roughly around 4% of the truck value per year. 10,000x.04/12 is roughly $33 a month per 10,000. Some companies require occupational accident insurance which is roughly $150, where some require actual workers comp instead, which varies state to state.
