Is your 389 a glider also? Freightliner is only getting 6.8 and I get that in my Pete, I can make it get 7.2 when I run 63. we haul mostly oversize ( wide or long ). Freightliner has the 10 speed, this new 389 has the 13. Driver knows he needs to keep it at least 6.5. I think that should be doable in that truck but time will tell. Not asking him to do something the truck isn't capable of. I have talked to several who have the 389's and they are getting anywhere from 6.8 to 7.4 or at least that is what they are telling me. Who knows if it's true or not. And the ones I talked to are footing the bill for the fuel so that makes a difference also. This I know to be true.
Another thing I look at is an aero truck without he side skits don't do as well as the ones with side skirts and side skirts don't hold up well in some of the places we go. Was thinking of the 386 but they would have to special order it from Pete to get one without side skirts, same as the Coronodo without the running boards.
Besides that aero trucks are just plane ugly in my opinion and every time I look at that Columbia I ask myself why?
Then I get a check and it makes it better till I have to see it again. Lol.RERM, OLDSKOOLERnWV and Oxbow Thank this. -
The funny thing is even with all the BS I'm still loveing it. I know I haven't been at it as long as most but if you don't enjoy what your doing then you should find something you do enjoy.RERM and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.

7mpg is easy, we have 2 389's from them.
I pull a Conestoga 90% of the timemc8541ss Thanks this. -
Is it turned down or still set at 75 from them?
-
I believe it's at 78? I think it says on their build/spec sheet
mc8541ss Thanks this. -
Yeah my spec sheet has mine set at 75. Have the Columbia set at 68 but turning it up to 73 tomorrow. Just experimenting to see if it helps or hurts it. If it hurts it will go back down.
Riprap Thanks this. -
I pull a propane tank loaded 84k most of the time then empty back but i gross 44 empty. Yes it a fiz glider with clarke motor that thing in the dash is way off I do all mileage on paper my dash show's 6.8 to 7.2 but I get 5.8 to 6.3 over the past year I run mostly 65 to 68 never over 70. Have my speed set at 90 has nothing to due with mileage. Not going to run 80 mph with 9000 gallons of propane down the highway. Have a close friend that own a 386 that get's close to 7.9 it also fizt glider pulling propane tank to.

I also pay for everything been doing this a long time. My glider Columbia got 7.1 mpg every day in and out but I hated it everyday I drove it. But it made me alot of money with it also tared 2000 less. Drove 65 mph all the time and alot of 62. Fitzgerald's will tell you .5 mpg less but I'm seeing .8 mpg less but I'm happy and love this truck. That the cost of doing business and now I have many driver's telling me that a nice truck make me feel better when I put more fuel into this bad ### truck.

I hear ya, yes all my mileage is done on kr's fuel gauges ( hey it free and easy to use) I know having it set on 90 has nothing to do with mileage unless you run it 90. But going from 68 to 73 could. Especially if he is running it against the governor all day. My Columbia has the Fitzgerald house motor in it and has been flawless so I am getting it is in this truck also. I am impressed with the 7.9. Does his have the side skirts. I am sure they would get torn off doing what we do.
Oh, that is a good looking ride you got there. I'm sure my driver will be hearing that a lot more than me. Lol.
