There is more to trucking than $1/mi freight. I've got guys making $4500 payments on equipment that can clear (that's after all expenses,) $20K/mo, when freight is busy, working 5.5 days/week.

That's what so bad about guys get on here act like there making so much. Been doing this a long time.when cj said well 10 to 20% is a normal down payment it is for a new truck buyer.anyone been buying trucks for years it's not. If you are clearing as much as they claim and you buy the next truck and paying over 2000 a month. Your not running a good business. The first truck I ever bought I put 25% down.three since then between trade and cash50% was the lowest. If your replacing equipment and all you have down is the lowest amount possible. Your not making money your just wearing out equipment

For equipment to get the job done, at better than $250K. There's money to be made in trucking, but it's in the niche markets. Box and standard flatbed freight is just a way to slowly go broke.

I clear 3k easily a week pulling a reefer. Sometimes I work one week a month sometimes 2. It's hard for drivers to understand that when all they know is big mega companies and the cheap freight they offer to theire drivers.

your reply makes no sense so 3 times the operating cost you would have to make three times the revenue just to make it a wash.if you make more, but are spending three time more what r u really making

Exactly! You'll never get rich trying to beat the big boys at their game.
