I"m not going to give you detailed information, but when the truck earns between $250K-$300K annually (after the carriers cut,) it's not that hard to justify.
But hey, don't believe me if you want. Just more left for those who get it!
Holy Hanna !

That's not very much to try to justify a 4500 payment. I know guys that are leased to carrier pulling textiles on a van making 200000 to 225000 with 1100 payments. Think there doing better.then 250000 with 4500 payment.

for 10k down there are a lot of pre emmission trucks that can be had for significantly less than that.

Again you are misreading numbers. But it's a minor thing.
I said 15-20% was a normal down payment for new buyers. I didnt say that's all I put down.
If you are not saving money (not just putting money back into your business but actually saving personal money too) then you are doing something wrong.
Now I didn't go from paying off one truck into paying off another. I ran my paid off truck for a few years first. Going from payment to payment IS just working for equipment. I agree with you there.
Also you are saying one has to clear 4-5k to make a 2-3k payment. My understanding of clearing $ is its AFTER you pay the bills. I believe I said I go out for a few days to pay my truck payment. Then a few to pay everything else. So at this point I've cleared nothing, but now I've paid for everything except any additional fuel and wear and tear I put on my truck and trailer for any additional miles I may or may not choose to put on my equipment.
I never said I needed to clear $150k a year. That seems to be the number you need. I only said I wouldn't want to work that hard. All I ever said is I work a few days to pay for my truck. A few more for everything else. Then a few to enjoy life. I believe I also stated that I doubt I could do what I do at SNI (not sure how they got involved). And I think you are confusing some $ figures as some are talking CAD and others are talking USD.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
Very true. But I can't run pre emissions.

you go into cali a lot dont you?

You forgot what you posted earlier didn't you. You said 20,000 a month when freight was good.20,000 a month comes to240,000 year. Now you want to try again

I'm leased to the same company CJ and Spyder is at and I'll tell you that $3000 a week is easy to do. Now if you mean Net $3000 well then that's something different because people bills are different. $3000 gross to the truck is a cake walk over here. Its guys here with over $4500 in expenses a month and they're are never stressing or complaining. What you might wanna do is ask these guys how they're are doing it successfully instead of assuming it can't be done.
Oxbow, Ruthless, BoostedTeg and 2 others Thank this. -
Here's the difference.
225000 a year with a van and what, 140k miles?
Heavy haul 250000 a year, yes equipment much more expensive, drives probably 20% of the miles. He spends more on equipment and insurance and permits but only a fraction of the dry van trucks biggest expense, fuel. Also his equipment lasts longer time wise.Oxbow, Ruthless and spyder7723 Thank this. -
I do. I have to usually just to get loads to the house. I can't afford to have a pre emissions truck. Heck I got called away from the start of home time on Tuesday and find myself in Cali right now.
