well that sucks

I had to tell the co either way because the ankle will preclude me from doing the physical for a while. I called them yesterday, no problem at all with the wreck as it was not my fault. they do want a copy of accident report to ensure what I told them was correct.
as far as not telling them, I would much rather have them give me guff about it now, when I could stay where I am, rather than have them find out about it and say I didn't tell them and boot me out when I would have no other options.
