My outlaw days are done lol if you had a clue man. 1 I have Elogs and see the problems they cause I used to stop and wait out traffic in big cities and still roll out more miles never got tired and worked less than 10hrs a day probably 90% of the time.
2 I don't have to do more than about 2000 a week so no need to run outlaw. I just like the flexibility to avoid hazardous situations without some jackwads that no nothing about driving tell me how to be safe or if I am tired guess what they have no #### clue.
Back not to dang long ago your situation you could have called that a 6hr break ran only 5 and taken another 4 or 5 hr break and finished out your run.
NO pressure to try and run 11hrs straight. Hmm.. What's really safer?
Plus truth be told I wouldn't mind Elogs if the HOS where better. That's the real problem HOS is set up around morons that can't think for themselves and need some nanny to babysit their butt.
Ata is who pushes for these regulations because they want to keep rolling slow to save a few bucks which is fine but they don't want others to have an advantage.
They implemented Elogs Years ago to save them paperwork and now they want everyone to play by their #### business model.
Sometimes FMCSA adds things they don't like and they fight those topics. Personally I think they discuss with FMCSA things for them to add just to make it look like they are for truckers.
No mistake ATA is ran by megas pushing the megas agenda.
Just my take on them.

OOIDA isn't for company drivers or employess, though, so what are they going to do about this? It's for businesses. Small companies. Overall, compared to the other costs, detention prolly isn't a big enough factor in how most trucking companies operate, so therefore it's most likely low on OOIDA'S radar, except with how it pertains to HOS. Better to run this through your representatives, state and federal.

Good luck getting truck drivers to stick together or make a collective effort . you can't even get a few to agree what to have for lunch. How far back has the chest beating going about a mass strike that's never gonna happen . being a company driver doesn't make you any less of a "real trucker " I have a real wife, home and family I leave for a week or 2 at a time , I don't want that much responsibility and risk on my shoulders with as cut throat as it is out here , I don't work for a mega, they know me by my first and last name , I get time off any time I ask for it and so on . I don't have a truck payment to worry about so it this does go downhill fast I don't have any stake in it. I believe it was a very prosperous job at one time m

The people that hunt for Sasquatch put in more effort then a few truckers fighting together for their livelihood. That might be a big part of the issue. Just a thought

@skinnytrucker79 I hope in no way did I imply as a company driver you was not a real trucker that was no way my intention.
I agree it would be great if we could get together for a real stand together we could make a real difference but to many are company and can't/won't risk their job because they have real families and pride in doing their job. Plus to many are O/O that also can't/won't risk their customers because they also have families and pride in their word/job.
I think it would be in everyone's interest if we did but what point do we take the stand on pay? HOS? Uniform cut and dry regs?
Point is everyone has their opinion on what's the worst of the wrongs.skinnytrucker79 Thanks this. -
And if someone is not a member of the organization, why should it try to even attempt to address their concerns.
That's like me asking "what have unions done for me lately?"... LOL
Maybe I am missing something.Mattflat362 Thanks this. -
I know. I'm just saying, if they derived support from company men. Ooida could have a stronger platform to stand toe to toe with the ATA
-
I have not yet but plan to do so just to support the concept...
But I agree, a larger base would make for a stronger platform.
