Just caught this thread ...I've had new (early emissions ) and were a constant headache along with build quality problems and OEMs and dealers that say to bad driver that's just new trucks and suck it up and it dang near broke me ...I love new trucks and admire them but they're propensity for living in the shop and the Dealers TFB attitude will keep me in my 2000 fld classic that runs trouble free day after day .

Another update:
At 765k miles. Since last update still rolling along fine. Had to replace the coolant lines on the compressor when I replaced it. Put a new air cleaner in. The dorm fridge gave up and replaces it with a 12v dometic. Starting a little week so replaced the battery's. Didn't help much so bought a starter. Went to pull the old one and found a bad connection on one of the wires. Fixed connection and holding strong. Keep the new one under the bunk for a few weeks. Generator has over 360 hours and still fires right up. Ac recirculating door is broken so had to block off the fresh air vent till I can take a closer look at it. Had a piece of freight fall of the front of my trailer and take out 2 tires. It was my own fault and I got it picked up from the road right away. I was only 20 miles from the house and had tires there to replace them. Still very angry at myself for that one! On the last service I told myself I should probly change out the acc drive belt. Naaaaa, it will be good till the next service....... Next morning belt broke. I had a replacement in the truck but no 1/2 drive to put the new one on. 1 hour labor at the next exit. That would be the first labor charge in owning this truck. Still mad at myself over that one too. Got a rock in the windshield last Monday. They are coming to replace it in the morning.
Overall very pleased with the truck and trailer.
6.56 mpg
Rates seem to be REALY soft. I haven't been at this long but I'm still doing ok. But, ####!

How have things been going with the truck? Really inspiring thread. I would probably buy an older truck instead of new if I had the place to work on it.
singlescrewshaker and Road Killer Thank this. -
Rolling along. Been having problems with my starter. Bought one a month ago and went to change it. I found a wire that was just 2 strands left. Fixed the wire and took the starter back. Worked good for a couple of weeks then back to slow crank or no crank. Went out Monday morning and nothing at all from the starter. Spent the whole day on it but starts like never before. Went with a new not reman.
Picked up a load tuesday and went to work.
Guy I'm leased to called me wendsday. The truck I used to drive (13 KW) puked a turbo. 2 day repair after a tow. $6400. That's about what I got in TOTAL repairs in 70k miles.
Yea, having a shop makes all the diffrence for me. I would buy a shop if I could not use his. It would pay for its self over paying labor shop rates.
Good luck in your adventures.singlescrewshaker, Ruthless, Road Killer and 2 others Thank this.
