they now get 1.50 a decal you just watch other states will start this when is it going to stop? The court said it was illegal so they just change the rules and keep doing it.

Imagine the whole truck covered in stickers for every state. Although they would probably all have rules like NY hut: "Must be near the headlight but not on the bumper".

The New York State Supreme Court in Albany ruled on this matter back in January. Not only are those HUT stickers unconstitutional but the state is FORBIDDEN from collecting on those stickers after that ruling. In addition, the court also ruled that state is supposed to start issuing REFUNDS to pay back all the ill-gotten money the state collected from that tax.

We did back in the old days.Almost every state had a sticker, tag,or waffleplate sticker depending how you were baseplated, and pro-rated,and where you ran.And they all had specific locations. Some were winshields stickers, door stickers, bumper stickers, some states gave you two,one for each side. Some states made you carry plates,on the front, and some on the trailer.Had 4 tags on my trailer at one time,Cal.,Ill.,NY TMT,and waffle for prorates.Had seven tags alone on the front of my tractor, have a pic if you'd like to see it.Plus all the stickers AND the BINGO CAB CARD,another huge revenue grasp. You had to keep up with all that crap,IFTA has made it so easy, one of the few improvements in modern trucking.

The NY HUT sticker is free but they charge $1.50 administration fee. But all other mileage tax and laws stayed unchanged. Plus an out side company handles all of this for the state now.

I paid my 1.50 weeks ago and still have only a temp piece of paper and no sticker.

Exactly what I expected....I am convinced governments are failing miserably or at the very least struggling to keep up with all of their own BS!

And how effed up things used to be with states rights, before they all got together.Back in the old days when 80 k was coming to be,some states allowed it,some didn't.I was baseplated in Pa. at the time,a 73280 state.Used to haul steel to and from Minneapolis.Minnesota had gone 80,000.However,since you were from an 73280 state, that's what you were allowed to haul in there 80k state. There reasoning was reciprocity, since Minnesota trucks couldn't haul 80 in Pa.,they weren't going to allow us haul 80 in their state. The country was a mish mash of different weight limit states, and you had to prepare accordingly.Or just run around the scales. At one time for quite a while, the states bordering the Mississippi River had a blockade on 80K,you just couldn't cross the country legally with 80k.

Remember when the various States started lifting the universal "55" mph laws....4 wheelers got to go 65 & 70, while trucks were still stuck at 55....Then there were the States that had 65 in the day & 55 at night.....

Most States went to the stickers, but some still kept the plates for a while, like VT & OR....I remember MD & ON always wanted theirs on the pax door, NY on the front of the cab, OH in the lower right corner of the windshield, but most were plastered on the drivers door....The IFTA pre-cursor was the NEFTA, New England Fuel Tax Agreement with VT,NH,ME.....

The Bingo card always seemed to be lacking the one State you needed too....
