Im a licensed CHL in my State. We have reciprocity with many states which means there is no problem traveling to these states. Things are getting interesting in my area as open carry by unlicensed people are becoming legal. You cannot have a license and open carry.

There is a large number of restricted areas and Federal Property such as the VA etc you do not carry guns into Period. No, nada, nyet. Nein etc.

Some states my Colt Railgun is illegal and not allowed as well as some of the ammunition, most of which is either FBI Tactical or Military. So I have to be very careful to examine the state I am visiting with my gun and ammunition. (Hollow points usually, some jacketed flat nose in super 255)

Concealment is not a issue when done properly. A vehicle safe is another benefit. You are in some places allowed to maintain a photocopy of your license and CHL on the phone in case you dont have your wallet.

Some people come into Arkansas and they wear clothing that reveals the gun by printing the outline, that's a no no. Also showing the gun to anyone from cover consitutes brandishing which is a no no. So...

Along with the gun is a medical kit capable of torniquet, compresson, XSTAT Sponge injector which is new item now... good for groin hits too high for a torny), a chest sealer and a number of dressings and so on. Blood pressure, pulse ox and rebreather for CPR purposes round out the situation for a good kit.

Get thee a lawyer in every state you run in if possible. Clear that up before you travel.

USCCA (United States Concealed Carry Association) is your number one carry insurance, bond resource and lawyer/court and all other information related to the entire United States membership is a must. Pay the 30 dollars monthly in Platinum and you will see many benefits should you have to draw to stop the threat.

Finally, combat focus training, Israeli Core IDF Training, Krav Maga or similar for without arms or other training that you are able to recieve is always good to keep rust from forming on you.

I have run the trucking without a gun in sight all my life until 2009, that was my last work with the trucks when I went blind and had surgery that year to restore sight. Then I learned the concealed carry and everything that goes with it. I will be traveling again around the USA and will not go into states that ban guns or otherwise suppress them.

I can go on and on but you can examine your particulars If you are going to get a License to carry in your home state, and travel, it will behoove you to look into multipule licenses from other states for non resident that offer them. You may gain access to a other wise banned state in this way.

The greatest problem? The sheep, the people who are anti gun and scared of gun carriers very much because they do not know our Nation's History, Laws and so on from Federal through the state into even local laws.

Some police departments offer training to the public to come visit their home range and train/shoot with them, with a particular encouragement towards having children come learn and practice as it is in my State. Some of you will faint when you realize the intensity that we generate in shoot days like that with a People committed to being a free state.

In the 1870's Federal Troops came down from Fort Roots, North Little Rock VA daily and nightly into Little Rock as Occupation forces against people who were shooting each other in the streets. Jim Crow Laws were on the books for a hundred years preventing a segment of population from owning guns. There were more than one election year that elections failed to occur due to the violence during Reconstruction.

Even today there is still strong Confederate sentiment over here and a bit of Union over there in my State. However the Government that be has been working hard to eradicate it's own history by changing certain road and street names from that which offends people into something more acceptable to them. So it evolves.

Your best day is when absolutely nothing happens at all. No predators, no bad guys no threats to anyone and nothing happened at all. That is a good day always.

    Good luck.

Strange that one can carry concealed but not open carry when the guy right next to you is doing it... Guess logic needs to catch up to reality.

The State Legislature (Not to pull thread off topic) made a rule that essentially legalized open carry for those without licenses. And out of about 1.4 million we are 160,000 Licensed. The State tried to wriggle wording just so to keep us from being a Open Carry State and as it turned out they failed. Or they got it through the anti gunners in the Senate.

There was one vote in the US Senate approximately 2010 near midnight where NATIONAL Carry would have been LAW however it failed by two votes. one of which was our Arkansas Senator changing his vote on orders from leadership. I watched it happen on CSpan2 live.

I myself frankly view being concealed as a touch slower than open and a benefit. There will always be a never ending debate and frankly it's not worth opening that can of worms. Some of our Businesses, Hospitals etc will post a sign that does not follow strictly our legal requirements for example No concealed handgun that is readable from 10 feet prior to entry therefore Simon's Mall sign 10 yards inside the front door does not apply.

People are shot several times a month here in Little Rock and North Little Rock, enough have been killed in the last 15 years where we do not go to some of these places because you could feel the threat level increasing from the predators and gangmembers running about. We are not Cops. In fact it's best not to draw or be in a situation that leads to gunfire at all.

My focus for those who choose to open carry lies in the training. There is a few thousand of us who invested the training and continue to do so at our expense (It's not cheap) and improve and learn. And you are going to have so many times more than us open carrying who have no training whatsoever. I don't know how that will work out. But time will tell.

I just looked up NC, where I currently live, and they have automatic reciprocity with any State with CC permits and our permits are excepted by 36 other States. Learned something today.

I did look it up. It's been implemented since 2004. ANY current or former law enforcement agent for a government agency falls under LEOSA. @TROOPER to TRUCKER

So it's not really that special but it kinda is.

The way you originally made it sound like only MP's could use it.

But that is clearly not the case as a weapons carrying, Amtrak worker can also use it. Of course following all the guidelines set up.

    Have a good day.

Well, some family members were and are with the old SAC now a different branch as Police and they can carry into more places than I can under the LEOSA law for life as civilians. It's worth putting in the years to achieve that benefit.

Ive encountered armed truckers in the past and it's not a problem. It's not the professional hauling for Uncle Sam or some other reason I worry about. It's a total and complete lack of support in our 50 states for one Law known as the 2nd Amendment. Some states such as NJ, Maryland, NY etc are Nazis and anti gun to the point of not being a part of these United States.

I'd have to look and see, because I have a Florida permit too.

I do know that a couple states that don't honor UT will honor FL.

Ah by here was already talk about retired police officers carrying anywhere in the thread. I think. May be in a different thread, there's a lot of these o_O

It's a fairly new development for the military and not a lot of people realize that's the case.

Yup... Ignore this Constitutional Right and then pass a law(s) allowing only certain people in society to be able to have that very same expectation... Imagine that being done with the Freedom of Speech, Religion, or Press?
