Oh, we all know how great the Army does at choosing first.
The Army also had first choice for the MTVR line of heavy vehicles. They turned it down saying there was no practical use for the Army and it's needs. The Marines ended up taking the MTVR's and it's been hard charging ever since.
The dreaded gun question.

And then you get dispatched to Canada.

I'm about as pro-gun as one can be and a CC permit issued in one state should be valid in all 50, but I'll digress.....
Be real careful, many States don't give a hoot if you've got a permit in your home state.....Most southern & western States are good about honoring other state permits, but watch out in the following: NY, NJ, CT, MA, RI, MD, IL, and of course CA...Also, Canada (ON & PQ anyway) gets real anxious when they come across a gun, or basically anything "gun related"....Get caught with a hollow-point bullet in Jersey and you'll go see the judge...Oh yeah, when crossing the border, you & stuff are subject to search w/o warrant or consent.....
HR218 is good law, but some states, like NY & NJ, have given guys problems if every i isn't dotted & every t isn't crossed...For example, for 218 carry to be valid one needs:
- Photo creds issued by the agency that one retired from that clearly is marked "Retired LEO"
- Must qualify yearly with the same type of weapon carried on the job in a State "designated course of fire" and carry a certificate certifying same.
- The "qualifier" must be a currently certified LE instructor in the State being qualified in. An NRA instructor don't cut it.
-
On the NRA and another website, it said NRA instructor is only qualified.... did I misread?
See NOTE 1.
Are you talking about something different? -
I went through a level one dot check on Tuesday at the south bound scale house at MM 132 Salix Iowa.
I told the officer that I was carrying . He just took my weapon unloaded it and held it behind the counter until we completed our time together . He returned it and I reloaded it on my way to the truck and I was on my way .
By the way I didn't get my sticker because I was missing a on nut on a brake chamber !!!
I just serviced the truck 2 weeks before and it was there !
That was the first level one I have ever failed in 35 years .
I now carry extra nuts and washers for them now LOL .
Oh I have a permit from Illinois Arizona Virginia and Florida . I believe a guy should get one in every state he can just to help out each state that has concealed carry. -
If you possess a valid CHL.
Illinois allows you to enter the state with a loaded hand gun in your vehicle. However it has to stay in the vehicle. No restrictions on stops or spending the night.
This is part of the CCW law that they passed. -
Must of been passed recently then. Also chicago had their own laws that they enforce above and beyond state laws.

Chiraq should be walled off. All predators dumped into that pit.
Just a second gate for carting off the dead to fight diseases...
Ive been into Chiraq more times than I want to remember, there was a time I went in there too much and started drinking again to forget some of the things that had to be done in the darker areas of the #### city.
Im sober now. No problem. No Chicago either. Burn it...whoopNride Thanks this. -
I am a Pro Gun person myself. Ex Military and I have fired at live human targets and know what the results were.
What I want to ask is why anyone feels the need to have a gun in your truck? In ten years I have never needed one. I have taken beef into New York, Chicago, Detroit. The idea of shooting someone again is not something I relish. Sure it was fun in Vietnam, but I am much older and wiser now. You want my truck. Here are the keys. Just let me log out before you take it so I don't get charged for out of route miles.LindaPV Thanks this. -
Not all. Some with turn you away (Herlong, CA & Tracy, CA) and some with 86 you forever (Charleston, SC).
Military loads ought to pay well enough for a motel at either end where you can check your bags...
Because law-makers regulate based on what sounds scary, the state with the highest population density outlawed the ammo least likely to over-penetrate -- God Bless America...
I've found this site to be accurate for my permits: http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_carry_permit_reciprocity_maps.html
My CA & enhanced ID permits cover me in all but 15:
In all seriousness, the laws vary (California allows permit holders to ignore posted signs at businesses -- in CA).Last edited: May 29, 2016
