lol,
I was 59, when i encountered F/D account, worked temp for swift.....i'd say it's not an easy job, if your not in shape, and are not aware of staying hydrated in hot weather, trailer gets up there in heat.tha trailer is floor loaded, in no stable order, everything is loose, most stuff is package, not boxes, so sometimes all freight doesn't roll cuz of weight/shape, then if you go to fast for store employees you gotta wait, too slow you get tha attitudes, etc, etc.....stress added features....lol. i'm no stranger to hard work, i was an ironworker, when i was younger....i did a lot of "rod busting" on more bridge decks i care to remember, but it was fun.
i quit F/D cuz, i suspected my pride would've gotten me hurt, i was an athlete in younger years also, so going past limits is what i do......i'm older now, good shape, i'm gonna say wise enough to understand i needed to train my body to catch up with my mind. i accepted i wasn't willing to push my self beyond limits after not being active at this level for so long......i did the job, i felt like i was getting in shape, i decided if wanna work out, go to tha gym, less stress......i simply admitted i didn't have tha attitude, nor willingness to work that hard, screw tha false pride......i quit......false pride can serve or destroy.....nobody pays enough for me to take unnecessary chances with my well being.....i'd say be wise, be honest with self before you take F/D or any job....if i felt inclined so, i'd do it again, now i know now, what it takes and prepare, lol, tha probability of working for some one other than self, that hard, preeeeeeeeeeeeetty low.......lolroll_tide07 and The Patriot Thank this. -
LOL I have done that once! Was already pissed when I opened the trailer to throw those rollers in there and like 30 boxes fell off the trailer.Milion of freaking boxes just thrown into the trailer. All sizes ,from little ones to pretty big ones.Took me 2 days to do I think 3 stops. At the 2nd stop I was already texting my boss to come there and unload that ####(yeah I am crazy) ,he told me to find some day laborers Mexicans and pay them to help me.LOL.I had pictures of that load but I lost that phone. We didn't do any more of those loads after that one.LOL.
-
Lol my boss at that time thought that he will pay me what he usually paid me ,mileage plus $25 /stop but when I was picking up that trailer I got to talk to some driver who seemed to be doing this on a regular basis and I asked him how much he gets paid for unloading and he told me he gets $ 260 for whole trailer. So I told my boss already at the first stop to forget about $25/stop and that I needed at least $260 for unloading that trailer. He paid me that LOL.It was in January 2015 in Michigan.

Aw man. Sounds similar to dollar tree where only a few stores had docks.. maybe 5 of them? Rollers were sort of busted and trailers werent dont right. ## that hand unloadin stuff went on med leave and lost more pay. Those stores just need to close and shutdown.
-
Dollar tree and it was the same stuff.. trailer with 4000 cases, three stores. You get to your first store the night before so you can log the entire first store off duty even if it take six hours (which it has) end up working ten plus hours a day then driving for another six or seven.

If you get Staph from an abrasion you have bigger problems then a falling box
-
Here ya go. I get around 400 to 500 off per hour. 2500 to 2900 per truck. $104 per trailer, $25 per stop, $.46 a mile
