I know you cant have one in the Federal Mint, which is pretty obvious. I dont know what they would do with it if they found it in your truck when they searched it? I know thats the most thorough search Ive ever been through. They look under your hood, under your truck, in your truck, under the trailer and in the back of your trailer. Then search you. lol
The dreaded gun question.

Non-Illinois residents are granted a limited exception to lawfully carry a concealed firearm within a vehicle if they are eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of their own state. Non-residents who are permitted to possess a firearm in their own state are not required to have a FOID card.
Also on preemption. According to this Chicago law can not preempt state law.
The 2013 law also created a licensing system for the carrying of concealed handguns. As part of that system, the 2013 law states:
The regulation, licensing, possession, registration, and transportation of handguns and ammunition for handguns by [concealed handgun] licensees are exclusive powers and functions of the State. Any ordinance or regulation, or portion thereof, enacted on or before [July 9, 2013] that purports to impose regulations or restrictions on licensees or handguns and ammunition for handguns in a manner inconsistent with this Act shall be invalid in its application to licensees under this Act on [July 9, 2013]. This Section is a denial and limitation of home rule powers and functions under [Ill. Const., Art. VII, § 6(h)].11
I hope that this help the traveler through Illinois. -
My truck feeds my wife and kids. They will not go homeless and hungry. While i don't look forward to the opportunity to take a human life, i will if i need to in order to protect and continue providing for my family. And i won't miss a wink of sleep over it.Mudguppy and HalpinUout Thank this.

I don't feel that I need a gun in my truck .
I do feel that as a law abiding American citizen that I have the right to carry a gun .
I exercise my rights given to me by our founding fathers as often as I can .
I think as citizens we all should exercise our rights every day and the right to bear arms is one that I do every day .
The right to vote is one that I use every chance I get also and one more people should use when given the chance. I will stop now before I go all fire and brimstone on the whiny cry baby gutless quitters we have in America today . -
Was waiting for someone else to bring this up b4 I said anything--now to cIarify am also ex military--my home is a fortress...I have lots of weapons Fl concealed--my kids and grandkids raised around weapons...and I have been runnin a reefer for well over 40years into every rat hole demon infested inner city mess the lower 48 has to offer....and have never felt the need for a firearm....and I find almost ALL the stories about all this trouble we face to be either contrived OR there is much more to the ACTUAL story....
I have ZERO problem with you carrying a weapon....hell mount a bazzoka in the bunk...whatever makes you fell better....but personally I've never been in a situation that called for one....including all the years---I regulalry delivered to the Old Bronx terminal market--where the local police precinct was known as Fort Apapche--and yeah the movie pretty much summed up the neighborhood back in the day.....
Boardhauler and Wooly Rhino Thank this. -
Do truckers have to pass through a metal detector on occasions or empty their pockets during any kind of inspection?
-
I've never had to walk through a metal detector, but I've been scanned with the hand held wands several times.Ooops Thanks this.
-
What type of shippers do this? I haven't had that happen yet
-
Inspection?
Er Inspection with coffee, doughnuts and snacks all over that doghouse was funny then. It's not funny now.
If you recall Knoxville was one of the first houses to scan for radioactive. It went down hill from there and increased in intensity of inspections.
It's getting to where wearing the colt in it's concealed holster will be revealed by it's own metallic signature just being near the right scanner in range. It's not something I want to deal with.Ooops Thanks this.
