I can't see a business wanting to wash out potential employees. Especially for race. Cause good business people don't care who or what you are, if you can make them money.
I think you would have to be bananas to stay there long term, but it's a place to start.
I trained, been involved in wild west rodeo show for 11 years.
Takes a lot longer than 4 days to master shifting and backing. Kids I had for 3 weeks 24/7 could do an adequate job at the end of that time.
This where I just docked 20 minutes ago. This is why a driver carries a good flashlight. You can whine to operations cause its pitch dark, or you can git-r-done.
Good luck in your adventures. Smooth is fast.
John Dewart and AM14 Thank this. -
That guy must have driven off a cliff to get that far into the ground.Dave_in_AZ and tucker Thank this.

when I went to Schneider, some years ago, it was amazing to me the number of people who actually had a CDL, apparently had passed a state driving test somewhere, yet were completely unable to drive.......just clueless. Almost everyone in my class passed, except for the fat chick with the pink cowboy hat......she kinda freaked out when she found out she actually had to drive a truck for a living. But, believe it or not, they were gonna give her a second chance once the meds kicked in.......no lie.
Racist? Yeah, not really.
Reminds me of when I was in flight school in Ft. Rucker Alabama. We had a guy that every time he busted a check ride, he claimed racism. The next check pilot would pass him. This went on from primary, Hueys, instruments, and NOE navigation. Then came night flying. He busted that too. Then he said black people couldn't see or fly at night.........whooops........if you can't see or fly at night, they don't need you, so, bye.....
The truth of the matter is this.....Schneider, like most trucking companies needs driver to drive their trucks and they really, really don't care who or what you are so long as you can get the job done. Keep playing the race card and maybe you can grow up to be the next Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton. Good luck.......with a entitled, victimized mentality, you're gonna need it.snowlauncher, jakecat22, 91B20H8 and 5 others Thank this. -

I had one of those super bright 12 volt spotlights for backing into a dark dock. I discovered that I could roll the pass side window down, point the beam into the mirror and it would light up that side well enough to back in safelyDave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
That may be your assumption but there will always be drivers willing to attempt to learn to drive. The mega will not raise rates til there's less competition.
And as long as our tax money feeds the driver mills, the megas will continue to drink the kool-aid.
I used to think like you do now. After many years in this industry in most sectors, I can see the picture in a different way .
Whatever is cheaper, easier , and convenient will most always be the first choice.
I am not like that, and my wife and kids say " get real it's the 20th century. "

Schneider's goal from the beginning of the week is to drop as many students at they can -- they have a quota but they don't tell you this.
schneider would hire martians if they could, whether he/she was a yellow or green one . that makes no sense to drop as many students as they can. yeah it was a subjective observation of your driving and the guys opinion was your not good enough and not going to be a fiscal return for the company. it aint about black or white gay or straight its all abot the $$$green$$$snowlauncher, Dave_in_AZ and Voodoo Pyg Thank this. -
@Gabbygibbs There seems to be holes every which way that I've read this post. Now I went through company sponsored training (I'm a former buzzard shamefully). Yes they make you watch hours and hours of "boring videos" as you state. It's part of the training you see. Sexually harassment does play a huge part in the industry. However I had to sign an arbitration agreement at Stevens. Did you have to sign one of those? Getting kicked to the curb for not being able to shift? Never heard of that one at all. When I was in school, they worked with you and if it seemed that you were having trouble on the track, they scheduled you time in the simulator. And just what were these "racist" and "sexist" remarks if I may ask? IF they were as bad as you say, why did you NOT take it to higher management? And yes. If they feel that you are not showing improvement, they will boot you without a problem. Difficult routes? Excuse me, but I was trained in school around tiny curves and turns. I also had complicated trips when I went solo. New York as a rookie is not fun! They train you that way because some of the states I went to had some of the tightest streets I've ever driven on in my entire life. And what's so bad about PTIs? Afraid of a little manual labor? The academy's job is not to teach you how to drive the truck. IF you had already been to a school, then that is a refresher and finish up type thing. It's regurgitation. The academy is for those who did not go to a school and NEED the training for their CDL. You're just there to see how the company works. It's your finish trainer that gets you backing, turning, and doing all there is to be an OTR driver. In this industry, you have to be willing to compromise. You wish someone would've warned you? No. You do the research yourself. I still went to Stevens after I came here. Yeah I was treated well (driver wise) but my temper cost me with my dumb **** of a DM. Oh well. I'm still driving today. No driver has the right to lay their hang ups on the company. It's what you do as the driver to make your career successful. Lemme be the first to tell you Welcome to The Trucker's Report. Hope things get better and good luck. Be Safe.
~Voodoo "Oinkie" Pygsnowlauncher, alpha beta and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
And just when are more rookies gonna realize this?
-
My trainers were the same way. If they felt like you needed more than the six weeks, your can was out there. My first trainer actually had a student on his truck I believe it was well over 50 days until he got it. You've got the right ideals there.AM14 Thanks this.
