I worked at Wild West Express more than a year. Always gave me miles and took care of any problems i had. I felt like part of the family (and still do) recently i had to resign to stay local but this is a great OTR company with great people.

I understand a driver has to pay $2500 to work there as an independent contractor; true?

Only if you want to buy into a truck, that is the program i did. They deducted $25 per week from me toward teh bu
if you want to be in the LLC fleet you do the buy in at $25 /week but you get 25% of what the truck makes. You can choose either way, i chose the LLC but you dont have to.WWE Recruiter Thanks this. -
You HAVE to buy into an LLC partnership for $2,500. YES, this is true. If you don't believe me, wait until your last day of orientation, where they pull you into a private room and video tape you reading a statement. They claim you get 25% of what the truck makes, but that payout is maybe $300 to $600 per year. If you do the math, they are saying the truck only made a profit of between $1,200 and $2,500 for the entire year!! Which means you'd have to stay there for at least 6 years, JUST to get your original $2,500 BACK. And that's assuming they don't charge you for truck damages. Which they always do. Which is why driver's leave. And they KEEP your $2,500 you paid to work there.Wwe sucks and Justin Sane Thank this.

---I've been reading many posts about this and I am the point I'm copying and pasting. I am a recruiter here and I take my drivers very seriously. I refuse to lie because I am the face that goes to the name. We are a very tight knit company. We know our drivers, their families, their pets....I want to keep them pleased and keep them employed and satisfied. That's not possible if we lie to get them here, then they leave upset after we spent a lot of money bringing them, training them, lodging them... It makes no sense. This is how it goes: Drivers have two options... If you decline hiring on as a company driver and decide to join the company as an LLC partner instead, you agree to put in up to $2500 dollars, in order to receive 25% of the profit at the end of the year when the books close. If you are fully vested and put in $2500 you WILL get it ALL back. If you do not put in the $2500 you do not get back what you have put in, but you still get your portion of the profit sharing at the end of the year which varies depending on how much you invested. It is explained thoroughly multiple times throughout orientation... so if a driver declines to be a company driver and chooses to be an LLC partner, we make sure the details are clear to the driver before they sign. If they say they understand and sign, we can't be responsible for anything the driver didn't understand. It is VERY rare that a driver is unhappy with the LLC partnership. It is usually someone who bounces from company to company and does not stay long enough to be fully vested... or someone who has excessive complaints about multiple things and is looking for reasons to be upset. I'm not sure what else to say but as long as I have been a recruiter here, this is EXACTLY how our company is run. Please feel free to contact us personally to discuss any further issues. Thank you for readingBackatit Thanks this.
