Sorry stexan ...alot of what you say is true but with all due respect trucking is a dead end job .....and it used to pay well ..it's a means to an end now .

Yep and those two words professional and career are used often in this industry to also lure in the drivers. If tricking was more then a dead end job then professional would actually mean something.

I've seen companies advertise as high as 60 cpm for company drivers.Of course they were Craig's list ads.I just read it and laugh. Some of the sign on bonuses are just as funny.

I'll have to re-read my post. I thought that's what I tried to say. But some do retire from trucking. I'm just not sure that's in the cards for most. I only truck because a guy I used to know once said someday I'd find a pot of gold as a truck driver. Maybe he said mold.

You can retire from trucking but it will kill you if you don't do it right. As in safely and healthily. I'm creeping up on my 30s and it's catching up to me a bit.

At this point, I'm saving up to buy a property and looking forward to becoming a slumlord.

Are you sure we're talking about the same thing? Trucking is a dead end job, but tricking isn't. Go watch that movie again.
