I ran home on a copy of my DL and copy of my long form to cover med card. No issues and our safety department is as anal as it gets.

    Dave_in_AZ and G13Tomcat Thank this.

Got copies of all the above plus family original BC's and SS cards in my gun safe, along with my arsenal of prized guns. It's a 4x6 fireproof and bulletproof liberty. Still carry my "emergency" ziplock in the truck or on the boat, tho.

A few years ago I got stopped at the scales for being overweight. I was doing a two day turn at the time, and on the previous trip I had forgotten my wallet. As I was getting out of the truck, I thought about that and I didn't feel my wallet at first, it scared me pretty bad. Turned out it was there and as I was sitting at the desk with the trooper that was writing up my ticket, I asked him what would happen if I didn't have my license. He replied that I was in the database and he could look it up there, and that it happened all the time. It was no big deal. A trooper said that. But you can't tell that to company management.

if you've ever sent copy of your cdl via email, as part of application process, check your "sent mail" files.....you'll have a copy....also consider tha probability of being asked by dot, police, etc is low, if they do, it's discretionary as to be anal/technicality about a copy, as said, they can easily verify ....depends on company as why u can't use copy. i may or may not tell company if i got a copy on hand.
my car was broken into, took everything, i drove for months with just photo copy, ca dmv approved/suggested. to beat wait times, i renewed/applied in small ca town, no wait, had it mailed to location of choice.....however, this was around 2009, things change...

Driving a CMV WITHOUT a cdl in possession is a big no-no. Same category as speeding over 15, tailgating etc.

If you're locked out of your truck, how can you get to the bank bag to retrieve the key?

    Dave_in_AZ and Skate-Board Thank this.

What good are spare keys INSIDE your truck if you get locked out?
