I feel the same way about this regarding all the negative posts about every company. On the other hand many folks have posted on here that like life, trucking is what you make of it. Your attitude, mental toughness, desire to learn is what gets you through your day. These types of comments apply no matter what you do for a living in my opinion.
Also, people in general will complain at a much higher rate than they will compliment. If you think about all the trucks on the road it far exceeds the amount of people posting here on any given day. So imagine how many folks are quite happy with the Swifts, CR Englands, Schneiders and so on that you never here from on this forum. More trucks moving out there than negative posts on here but don't hold me to that as I don't know the actual numbers. It's just my viewpoint from where I sit today.
Find the posts by evertruckerr on the Crete thread. His tales from the road are an excellent read in my opinion for any newbie. I think his overall attitude and the way that he approaches his trucking job/lifestyle is what I am going to attempt to emulate when I get out on the road no matter which company I eventually choose to gain my experience with.

Howdy Hogster!
Whereas I tend to agree with what you've posted, I think you might be missing part of the points being raised here about C.R. England.
Just about every Big truck truckin' company will have SOMEthing about their practices that SOME folks will, and do, disagree with, but C.R.E., IMO, goes beyond just making employment there less than desirable.
Other truckin' companies might not be the best place for long term employment, but few others actually deceive their drivers to the point of financial ruin like C.R. England is famous for. That, I think, is the major difference.
With some of the other truckin' companies we read about shabby equipment, scum-bag driver trainers, not enough miles, bad dispatchers, frequent problems with pay and/or not seeing tolls and assorted out of pocket expenses being repaid in a timely manner. But those problems pale in comparison to C.R. England's practice of luring starry-eyed newBees into lease programs that too often lead to financial ruin and poisoned DAC records.
One has only to review the comments made by folks who drive for ANY company out there to realize there's a big difference betwixt the starter and bottom feeder companies where they can, and do, put in their year to 18 months and then move on to a better truckin' company. All too often, after C.R. England gets through with them, they've lost their homes and filed for bankruptcy --- HUGE difference, especially after C.R.E. enters bad reports on their DAC records, making it hard, if not impossible, to find work in the Big truck truckin' industry.
IMO, that just ain't right --- and makes it obvious why C.R. England finds it necessary to have ARMED guards and metal detectors to pass through just to see a dispatcher.
Ever wonder why other truckin' companies don't find that necessary?
With other truckin' companies we read the good and the bad things others find with the various truckin' companies, but when we read more bad about one company than good, and, by the way, doncha figure we should be reading at least ONE good report about C.R. England, it tends to make me go
Hmmmmmmmmm.
I'm still waiting to read ONE person with a few years with C.R. England to report the GOOD about that company.
I keep a pretty open mind, but when the bad outweighs the good by such a large margin, I tend to believe what those folks are telling us.
One GOOD report is all I ask.
But no one seems to answer.
Why is that?
And that's what I draw my conclusion on.
If it walks like a turkey
and gobbles like a turkey
it ain't too likely it's a golden eagle.
Ya reckon.
*Sidebar -----
it has been suggested that those who are doing well at C.R. England are also members of the Church Of Latter Day Saints.
I have no way of confirming that, other than the observations of those I know who have gone the C.R. England route and claim that to be true.
Another thing that makes me go
Hmmmmmmmmm.

Thanks for the feedback, Hogster. I agree 100%. Life, in general, is what you make it. I will look for evertruckerr's threads. It is appreciated.

For one, its a reflection on the recruiter, not the company. The company doesn't call you back, the recruiter does. I have a weird suspicion he might have more than one person at a time he is working on getting hired. But lets freak out when we sit for days without a word...instead of simply calling them back.
You won't have any guarantee. What company will take you on for training and such WITH a "gurantee?" Schneider hired me on for this position and kept it open for me while I was in training. But I knew from day one that if I sucked, I wasn't going to get the job. Weird philsophy they have, I know...but for some odd reason...their belief in "If you can't drive a truck safely and do what we require, we arent going to hire ya" seems to work quite well. Maybe Swift guarantess that line of poo....which could explain their drivers "well...we made a pinky swear promise to hire em on...they are blind in both eyes, deaf, quadrouple amputee, diabetic and speak English as well as Dubbya...so we kept em...because gol darn it, a pinky swear is a pinky swear!"
And besides, enough about you...what about them. What guarantee do they have that you will remain with them for 1 year, 2 years...10 years?
Why should they pay anything? Want them to pay for your mortgage too? Every other driving job out there that I know of, requires a license of some sort...so should we all demand compensation for it? Maybe as a teacher, I can demand from the school district (or...heck, YOU the parent!) to reimburse me for my teaching degree! After all, I had to get it to get my job. Maybe even the finger printing I have done for each district that is interested in me...hmmmmm
Lol, maybe I can get reimbursed for the thousand or so dollars I spend on supplies for the classroom every year! hahahahahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
They are clearly making your license a condition of hire. You need to get the license in the state you live in. Your Hazmat is not required to drive truck. It is simply an additional endorsement that allows you more opportunities for jobs and as such, should not be paid for by the company.AfterShock and Moe Rhonic Thank this. -
WoW !!
Who the hail ARE you, Ziggy?!
I can't believe you said all that.
But what I DO believe is that
I agree.
YeS I do.
I remove my well worn, favorite NASCAR cap with my favorite driver's number on it --
stand at attention as I offer up my most snappy
and sincere salute.
Well thought out and VERY well presented.
Maybe a tad brutal for some -- but IMO you've hit the head right on the nail.
If that post of your's doesn't deserve multiple green squares, well,........ by golly,
I don't know what does!
Thanx Ziggy for an OUTSTANDING post.
WoW !
That's what I say ---
Only I say it louder.

How do you say Swift in German?............. Schneider HAHA
Enough of the humour. IMO Schneider is the best of the worst! They have their problems but they have a lot of good things about them too. I am experiencing some problems with them right now and it sux. I got down to Virginia on wednesday morning and my qualcomm is toast. SEM said that they don't fix Qualcomm out on the road that I would have to get to an OC. I got to Carlisle, PA last night and was told that because I have a Canadian truck they can't fix it down here I have to get it done in Canada
I called second shift and I can't get routed to the OC on this load because its too far outta the way. Looks like I will be running for another few days without it. But seriously Schneider isn't as bad as what it is made out to be on this forum.

Howdy back at ya AfterShock!
You may be right as I don't recall really reading up on C.R. England specifically. I just used their name in my post as I was very in tune to what MrZero was saying about all the negative posts on here. His frustration and mine as well is that EVERY single company has negative after negative post that it drives us noobs nuts trying to figure out what to really believe about the new career we are about to embark upon that's all I was trying to say. That and we noobs should take these negative posts with a grain of salt.
On the other hand if I can learn from someone else's mistake I am willing to not repeat it. That said it again leaves a noob thinking "well if all of these companies suck which one should I pick?" Kinda reminds me of our presidential elections and the lesser of two evil scenario.
I wasn't really looking at C.R. England as one of "my" options even though I wasn't aware they are as bad as you say. Nothing replaces first hand experience so I hear what ya are sayin. -
You are welcome MrZero!
I see you are from L.A. and I am just a little further south from you. I was looking into Schneider early last year but now I hear that they are only hiring teams out of their Fontana terminal. I have no interest in teaming so they are off my short list. Best of luck to you! -
Frustrating newBees and drivin' 'em nuts is our job
and part of Big truck truck drivin' training.
It's what we do best so naturally we enjoy doin' it.
Salt will give you high blood pressure, amigo.
Instead, if I were you, I'd take the negative as well as
the positive comments for what they're worth.
Good for you!
That's what we want to hear,
and exactly what'cha should do.
The results could put'cha at the head of the class.Hmmmmmm
I see where you're comin' from.
Here's what I'd do -----> pick the company with the least suction.
For me, it was Schneider, but I well understand that even Schneider isn't a one size fits all truckin' company.DaD-GummiT!
Why'dja remind me?
I was tryin' to forget.
I'm SURE glad to know that!
However, I'm not the ONLY one tellin' folks about C.R. England.
NopE!
Check out the numerous threads pertaining to C.R.E. --- if for no other reason than to be more aware of what NOT to be lookin' for.
WhaT?!
You can hear what I'm writin'?
Ain't THAT sumthin'?
Uhhhhhhh, .......... what do I sound like?
I see you claim Oceanside as your home-20.
I reckon that makes us neighbors.
I'm just north of you in Corona --- just up I-15 where it crosses Hwy 91.
Small world, no?
-
look at it this way no anoying beeps while you are driving or sleeping.

bad thing is no driections via the qualcomm.
