Common sense really must not be very common anymore We use chains now instead of straps they seem to slip a little less than straps do.

What do you use to tighten up the chains?

First thing I had to do on my truck when I bought it. Borrowed a trans jack and socket for the yolk. Took about 20 hours including parts runs. It was actually the easiest I have ever done compared to all the cars and pickups I have done in the past.

I did a 10 speed on an ol' 9300 harvester about 10 years ago..With a Mechanic friend of mine..

Took us 2 days bout 15 hours total time including runs over to superior clutch/ last run was a forgotten shift tower gasket

When you have your trans out, always check the bushings in the bellhousing on the throwout bearing release shaft. These grease fittings are notoriously overlooked, because they're usually a pita to get to.Will screw up your clutch adjustment,if they are not taken care of.I put extension hoses on mine the first time I take the trans out,lot easier to grease!
