1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I'm 49 y.o. male with 4.5 years experience with Schneider OTR dry van. I got arrested March 2015 and convicted of 2 misdemeanor assaults. I have 1 speeding ticket from February 2014 (61mph in a 45 mph zone in a commercial vehicle).

Who is likely to hire me? Schneider said I have to wait 5 years after the arrest. Swift said a 3 year wait due to my ticket. I need to hit the road and earn money ASAP.

I run hard and legal most of the time.
I have a strong work ethic and was doing 3000 miles every 6 days with Schneider.
I've got 5 years CDL driving with 4.5 of that OTR.
I've got all endorsements (hazmat, tanker, doubles).
I have 20 months experience for the last 3 years.
In good health and no drug use (Rx or illegal) .
My DAC probably looks good and my last dispatcher would give glowing recommendations.
Home is Memphis for me and I'm flexible about time at home.
I do my pre-trips and scale my loads.
    Your equipment is my livelihood.

    Suggestions?

Fight it. I dont know how much good it will do but if it goes on your record the way it is, it will give you problems until it drops off in 3 years. It will go on your record as a conviction if you pay it. If you dont pay it, your license will be suspended so yes, get a lawyer and fight it.

Unfortunately, your choices are going to be slim for at least 3 years. Companies dont care how good a driver you are anymore, what they care about is who they can hire cheapest. Good Luck.
