This is all good reason for people to be aware of what's going on around them at all times. No matter where I am, I walk with my head up, looking around, and observing everything. I stand about 5'2", weigh about 110 soaking wet, but people don't mess with me much because I project the attitude of "dynamite comes in small packages, nitro comes in smaller ones - take your pick!" I grew up as the only girl with two brothers in a neighborhood full of boys - I don't cat fight, I fight dirty. Along with having driven truck, I almost always chose jobs that kept me in good physical shape (I hate the gym). Can't do that stuff anymore (including drive truck) due to a shoulder injury, so my back up is my bloodhound-doberman mix.

While we're on the subject of people climbing on trucks, make sure you check every possible space where a person could hide, especially if you're near the Mexican border. Another driver gave my hubby this tip. You could end up transporting illegals without even knowing it, and you will have problems.

The climb up and offer directions thing goes on in New York all the time. All a way to make some quick $ out of fear.

If someone other than the POLICE or DOT climb up on your first step while you are moving, STOP THE TRUCK!!!! Do you not know that if they take a fall while you are rolling it is lawsuit city? You don't want that ticket. OK, now that we have that out of the way, stop the truck, crack the window (you do have the windows up, don't you? Door locked?) and tell them to get the #$#% off of your truck. If they fail to do so after you warn them, then it's on, fair game.

Reginald Denny. If you need a lesson, then go to Youtube and watch. I saw it live in LA. You are driving a lethal wepon and accidents can happen. But anything else is Billy Big Rig bull@#$%.

If they climb up on my truck, fall on the ground and then scream "lawsuit"... then I'm gonna back up and finish the job right.

LOL... my first trip into Bedford Stuy', I gladly paid one of those "Tour Guides" a ten spot to direct me out. I was almost ready to leave the truck there and take a plane home. :biggrin_25525:

So, what you're saying is, if it is the police or DOT then don't stop. Did I get that right?

Yeah, I allways got 300 lb lot lizards in a tank top with runny noses, smoke breath, and one tooth climbing on my truck. I tried Raid, Pepper Spray, 20 oz hammer, and the tire thumper. None worked. Then I tried showing them an empty wallet and low and behold she would step off my truck and my low oil warning light would go out. Seriously though, Look at suspicious peoples hands first make sure they ain't armed, then look them straight in the eye and shake you head no. If that doesn't work respond further. Get on the radio or call authorities. Meanwhile get ready to throw down. Remember your priorities...You first, Rig Second, Load third.
