POLL: Are you working during DOT blitz?

Chicken crap ####### going home during the blitz shouldn't be out here with me anyways.

I've got a 7-day drill, so it's like half an AT. :-/

 

I've worked every year during the blitz since I've been on the road...if you are doing your job correctly 362 other days, what's 3 more?

 

I think it would be far more effective if they didnt announce it....

 

Me too, Razorwire. I just can't make myself care about the blitz,since I try to keep myself legal every day I'm out there anyway. Then, there's the fact of numbers. There's still a lot of trucks out there. As one of the posters said, if I get pulled in, I'll buy some lottery tickets.

I don't like the way many drivers consider the DOT, FMCSA (and others) as the enemy. They're not our enemy. They exist to control compliance, and if we're not messing up, we have nothing to concern ourselves with. Mostly. Judging by some of the trashy drivers and unsafe rigs, I'm glad they're doing it. I sure don't want one of these foolish drivers/bozos ruining my trips.

Besides, if I get caught out of compliance, isn't that on me? Not on them, they don't maintain my rig.

Last comment on this from me - for some reason these agencies have a aura of Gestapo/Secret Police, I don't buy that, I don't like it. Fear not, the Force is with you. If you run legal, a lot more Force.

Most likely working it this year. It's no different than the times when some states will do an unannounced blitz and they seem to be everywhere. At least this time they give us the heads up. I think it's more for public perception that they are doing good things with tax money more than anything.

I have found that even though my truck is old, they look and see its clean, tires still have plenty of tread and aren't cheap Chinese brand, all lights work, can't hear any air leaking, and it's obvious I have had adequate sleep, they tell me to carry on most of the time.
