I have ran elog and paper. Peoplenet and qualcom. I aint gonna lie if I have paper I run illegally. Not because I am some gun hoe supertrucker but because i detest shutting down and not being tired. Now I will say I feel more rested with elogs. I did in fact make nice money on paper(sunday though friday clearing $1300+ a week) but I still make decent on elog(sunday through friday $1100 a week)

True, and nobody who is singing the praises of ELDs has driven 56 in a 55 zone either!

Perhaps you could give us the reg that allows violating HOS in order to go an hour in order to get home. I know some drivers will say "safe haven rule". If that's what you will say, safe haven only applies to parking a hazmat vehicle.

I have a team of hackers & programmers, working as we speak, on software that will work as three e logs. Cause to do it correctly two log books won't work, you need three, I mean ummmm that's what this grizzled old veteran told me at a Road Ranger once.
So I expect they will sell like hot cakes when the time comes.

If you state your opinion about money, can you at least be specific? How much money do you make? Cuz you know "You can make money just fine" also driving for swift for $0.32/mile or flipping burgers in McDonald's for that matter. If you have no idea what others make.

I think what alot of drivers don't realize is that the DOT will not come crashing down you for going over like this. They look for patterns, if it's on a constant time after time your going to be in trouble, if it's once in a great while, your not going to have problems, they look for honesty also in an audit, and that goes a long way.

Those who run elogs and like the money they make and the rest they get, i am happy for you, but why should I have to do the same. Elogs do not increase safety, or lower accidents. So far all they have done is help safety ratings due to less log book violation, this is not safer driving. Change the HOS rules, so we can have our split sleeper time back then elogs might be easier to digest.

My, how things have changed in the short time I've been out here.

If you don't use eld and you fudge a bit you're a ###### menace, you're the reason for everything that's wrong in the industry. Sure, and you're jealous. :)

As for the OP's questions I don't know. It can't hurt rates. You have a load to move that requires a fast truck and a driver with a full 11 available to get it there in time. That sounds good for rates. Sounds really good for the guy with the '99 or older truck and for teams.

It's not like the people brokering the loads don't know what's what and the onus will be moved to them to ensure they don't get burned by the reality. That can't hurt rates.

Some of those impossible loads will get an extra day added to them. That can't be good for rates.

More and more are on eld all the time though so there shouldn't be any drastic changes. People will adjust. The ones most affected won't be the drivers.

Hard to argue against eld, it's nothing more than technology keeping us honest. Just wait until they come up with the bright idea that technology can be used to ensure we don't exceed the speed limit. That couldn't be bad could it? ;)

I havent written a truthful log in yrs. That said,.. its not that I can not complete my loads and log it legally. Its that I can not stop and sleep and return to driving the way I like to run and do that legally.

You all get on your self righteous high horses about paper logs vs elogs. People log how they log for different reasons. Whether a 700 mi route is planned out perfectly,.. or traffic became an issue and it was better to get some sleep an then pick back up later. Who are you guys to point your fingers and judge someone else?

    EDIT:

Right or wrong, truckers used to have each others backs. You looked out for each other,.. even if you didnt always agree. A man trying to survive and make his way was something you did not talk bad about. No one ever talked down to one of our own because they were getting away with something we couldnt. Its non of your business what someone else does. You do your thing,.. they do theirs. Thats it.
