So I went through my phone history and counted 23 calls today for postings that are already gone. Some of the same postings still posted as of right now, and others showing up as old as 9 plus hours old.

What other load boards do you use?

DAT360 is the only other one I use.

Pretty much the same loads for the most part. Its much like anything else on the internet. You have to learn how to filter out the spam to find what you really want.

I know LS and others advertise "load notification," but is that for the masses and your algorithm picks it out? Or is there a way to sift out and lock in the good loads before they're already committed other than that? Thanks.

If you follow the boards,.. you learn that there are different times of the day,. and the week to find specific types of loads,.. mainly short miles vs long miles etc.

What I like to do before I call on a load is to look up and see whats coming out of where its going. Try to set up a reload before booking the initial load. I may plan out 3 - 4 loads in a row that way.

Thanks, Hurst. Getting a load is so much better paying than sitting at a TA for 3 or 4 days. Right on.

Thats just it. My wife uses the analogy of picking and choosing your battles.

If freight isnt moving in your area,. or just isnt paying. Do you suck it up and take the $1.45mi load to some where better,.. or do you sit and hold out for the possibility that you can catch that good rate load before someone else calls on it?

I personally hate taking anything for under $2mi. Being that I am leased to a carrier,.. its not the whole $2 mi for me. I have to give up 20% of that rate. Thats why I like to utilize my ramps for heavy equipment and/or do O/S loads which have better rates. I mean if $60 - $100 in permits means my rate jumps another $1 - $2 mi,.. then why not?

Used to be really easy to put partials together to put together a load paying $5 - $6mi. I think too many others are doing the same thing. Thats why I dont see too many of them. Or maby the hotshot guys are coming back out strong and taking them. I honestly dont know. So now I step on the RGN and O/S guys turf. Sorry,.. but I need to eat too.

i've used truckstop for over a year. i just recently also started using dat. i think dat is better.

freight is low this year, and we are slooooowly climbing out of a bad time of year,in a slow year,so loads are gone like poof. sometimes it's done on purpose so they can pitch something else to you since yer on the phone.

i do like hurst a lot. get the back run done first. i'd ratgher look for a load from my living room than the truckstop.

Since I'm just a company driver, if you are hunting down your own loads anyway, what's the benefit to being ll leased onto a carrier, what are you getting out of that 20%?

I've been wondering that for years too.
To me it's like having another middle man between you the carrier, and the person paying the freight bill.

OK, so maybe there is a benefit of having a company that you lease to takes care of some of the responabilty of the business, permits, tags, maintance and so on.

But if you have to give a % of your hauling profits to the company, how is that any different than a broker?

BOTH ways are bad, And surprisingly it hasn't started bothering you guys yet.

You don't want to give up any revenue. As I've posted in other threads.....Secure your own freight...You'll ask yourself, "Why did it take me so long?, I must have been so stupid" You start comparing annual gross totals and your gonna fall outta your chair!! lol
