Is this happening to every company driver?!! (please someone from the right company, tell me NO!) I know sometimes with heavy loads you have to only take on small amounts, but what if you have a light load?
Dispatch says "You may get 55 gallons".
Driver says, "I can take on 120 gls. with this load"
DM, "The price for fuel is going down tomorrow, you'll have to get another fuel stop in the morning"
Driver, "That will be three fuel stops, logged at 15min ea. in less than 24 hours!"
Along with the truck being turned down - less miles daily - which won't really add up until you do the math for the month, means a pay cut that you aren't told about until after it hits!!!
Is this happening to you?
Fuel Stops - The price is wrong!

hell no!!! i have a fuel stop book that (USA) gave ist by state of fuel stops we are autherized to use. if we need out nof "network" fuel we have to call in to get comdata turned on for them, then only get 50 gallons.
RBPC Thanks this. -
I would suggest to let me fuel up with atleast 100 gallons that way could get a decent days miles. -
You may be losing 15 minutes log time but in the real world 2 extra fuel stops at real time of 30-40 minutes each equals an hour to nearly an hour and a half of your lifetime you are being asked to donate to the company so they can save $5.00. Do you believe if they were paying you fairly (ie: by the hour) they would have you doing this?
Another thing this is going to do is crimp your style trying to get times for fueling as shown on transaction records to match your log book.panhandlepat, AfterShock and RBPC Thank this. -
God I feel for you co drivers that have to put up with that sheet. Geeze, I can burn 55 gallong up in just over 4 1/2 hours. filling up that often would SUCK.
To the driver that started the thread - can you post who your company is so we can all laugh and bash them? Swift? JB? Werner?
To the guy who said it's only a $5 savings - Yes it is..... X 10,000 or whatever many trucks.
That daily savings alone is enough to staff yet one more pin head in human resources for a full year.AfterShock, RBPC and panhandlepat Thank this. -
Wow, I didn't know that these companies made you all operate like that. When I need fuel I stop, simple as that. To me it doesn't matter how long the fuel stop lasts because I get paid by the hour. I think that my company would rather have me fill up when I say so then to call a tow truck to tow me to a fuel station.

Another "pin head" desk driver who can figure out how to spend a dollar to save ten cents.
Hmmmmmmm
I wonder what a "pin head" would say to explain why they required you to fuel for, .... on say, ..... $4.30 a gallon at the first stop with a limited amount of fuel, and then spending, .... oh say, .... $4.65 on the second stop for a limited amount of fuel?
See where I'm goin' with this?
Just remember, there are 3 types of "pin head" desk drivers ------
Dumb
Dumber
&
Dumbest.
RBPC and 379 Peterbilt Thank this. -
SNI has never tried to have me do that, they just give me the fuel stops on the crap directions they give, but its optional to the driver if he wants use those fuel stops, 90% of the time i just ignore the fuel stop routing and fillup once a day at the pilot or the operating centers (same thing as a terminal)
they have never griped at me about itAfterShock Thanks this. -
I think it's all bull. First the DM has no idea when the prices are going to change. I know. That's one of the most guarded secrets of the oil companies. Years ago when they had dispatchers at the terminal they would be very careful to tell a dealer he would be better off ordering a load the next day. Some dealers got wind of that and filed suit. Now the oil companies do not tell the stations until it's time to change the price.
AfterShock and RBPC Thank this. -
