So in calling around on posted shipments I've been getting the same line from a few brokers.
And when you try to negotiate with them, here is the line I get.
"It's playing $400, we've been moving them for that"
I told one broker yesterday that the other brokers are paying $600, when I tried to get an extra $100.
No negotiations.
Broker: NO Negotiations.

When I figure a broker is taking much more than their fair share that to me is an invitation to solicit the customer.

#### em if they do. Ain't our job to make some poor slob see the error of his ways. Our job is to be successful for ourselves and our families. Make the next call and keep grinding.
I gotta make MY money, if the next guy doesn't know how to make his/or the broker doesn't want to cut into his pie: I'll get the work somewhere else.Mikesallah Thanks this. -
That's where this is going. There are now too few players on the brokerage side. The shippers go along because they're saving a little, broker takes a bigger cut for themselves, and the equipment owner can suck an egg because that's all there is.

That's just how it is when there's a dozen trucks fighting for every single load that pops up out here. But how many times have you given a broker your rate and told them it was non-negotiable? When conditions are right for it I will sometimes tell them outright my rate is not negotiable. When I don't tell them they figure it out fairly quickly and move on. That's if they don't just hang up in anger and frustration. And when they call back (caving in to my demands) saying "can you help me out a little maybe a $100" I know they in fact are perfectly willing to pay my rate and I always say no. Now let me be clear I have been on the other side of this scenario also. Plenty of times. I get the aggravation of it. There's no conspiracy. There's just too many trucks and not enough work for everyone.

The funny part about this is,
The reason I called the first broker was I was already set up with them. Since they had to make over $200 profit on that shipment, I called the other broker that had them posted for $600.
They told me they booked everyone of the shipments and there was no more left.
First broker told a lie that they had been moving them for $400. -
And so the first broker lost the load and the second broker made some money off it.
Competition is good for Capitalism.
