If we're talking about THE Waste Management wm.com They were the only company I've applied to that required a back X-ray as part of a very extensive physical. The result got me rejected for hire with some lower back issue that was visible and used to give me problems on and off for many years, but not so much any more. This was probably 20-25 years ago and in San Antonio, TX. Probably a worthwhile outfit but I have a feeling they don't pay what they should given the requirements and expectations. But it's a local gig and may be a good fit.
Dominick253 and zigstar Thank this. -
Check with a few drivers, they have a extreme nanny culture. I know a few roll off drivers up here. Is it side load, front load or rear? One man truck, two man team?Dominick253 and zigstar Thank this.

I guess, if ya can get in, then do it. They are extremely picky about who they hire (at least the SF/Bay area locations are). WM for the most part, hires exclusively in house (family & friends).
Edit: my uncle has been with them for 20+ years, even with his recommendation I didn't even get a phone call. Maybe no class B (dump truck) exp was the reason, who knows.zigstar Thanks this. -
I applied years ago, said I don't meet there requirements. Like another poster said, there seem overly safety conscious. Like you can get fired for backing up and they have guys following you around watching you
Dominick253 and zigstar Thank this. -
Recruiter said side loader.

Do you get motion sickness? I thought i didn't till i tried side load, one foot on the brake the other on the gas, look forward, drive 20 feet, watch mirror while truck shakes and bobs, look forward gas hard for 20 feet, and repeat, mind you unless your lucky enough to have a right hand drive truck, all that mirror and over the shoulder work happens on your right side, now do that 700 to 1100 times a day, small cabs. Your right leg, (standard drive) is against the doghouse. Its definitely not for everyone. Seriously, try to catch one doing work, tell them flat out that youve been offered, and want a yeah or ney opinion. I know a few guys that love it, i know more than a few (myself included) that hate the living heck out of it.zigstar Thanks this.

Yup yup, one of my buddys does roll off for them, seat belt on to reverse 5 feet. Driver facing cameras, 3 points of contact at all times getting in or out, random vehicle chasers, marked and unmarked, at least thats up here...Audiomaker and zigstar Thank this.

Thanks everyone. Just want to get off otr. I guess if offered, will have to put up with all the BS. I hear it's lot of physical work, but that is the price I have to pay.
