34 hours is 34 hours, no matter what. Might just be their logging or safety dept wants it that way. Hard to get good rest in that limited time span tho. Think about when you will be sleeping vs awake vs what is natural. I would need sleeping pills to get decent sleep in that window.

i was just wondering what i should do about on-time hours from yesterday in the log for the 9th.i'm just going to put 0 and let my company explain how this is done in this instance or maybe dot down the road.

Unless its a company policy(which would be a stupid policy). You can start your 34hr restart any time of the day, even if you were on duty that day. When you start your 34hr, you need to be off duty and/or combination of sleeper for a straight 34 hours period. If it was me, I would tell the company to get bent. Ask yourself this question. If you got a ticket for going over hours, Would they pay the fine?
If I know I'm going to be laid up for a weekend or a shipper. I squeeze in a 34hr restart. This way I know after I get rid of the load. I will have plenty of hours available to keep me moving. This has always worked in my advantage...
panhandlepat Thanks this. -
Where do they find these people? (of course I mean whomever told the OP they couldn't log reset hours on the same page as on-duty hours?) I mean, it must have been "Take Your Kid to Work" day and Jr. took the call instead of Sr., or something. Right?

Bright company. How do they find the way to work and back? -
Not with their hands, those are too busy looking for their a@#.

that is a load of junk. i would call someone else in logs or safety to confirm that info.

I do the 2 day restart all the time...
go off duty sat. early a.m. and come back on late sunday afternoon.
I draw a flag line from when the 34 is up noting: 34 hour restart complete 34 hours off duty, 08/09/08 - 08/10/08 waterloo, ia.
this isn't a change of duty, only a flag marker...
then I do another flag for when I actually come on duty...
days off remains blank (zero)
recap shows number of hours worked today... 9 1/4 for example...
hours on duty in the last 7 days including today is 9 1/4
total hours available tomorrow is 60 3/4
total hours in the last 8 days is 9 1/4
this becaUSE my clock is reset to zero after the 34 reset which is clearly flagged...
d.o.t. has seen it and never flinched..... what else can you ask for??? or say???
your diaper at the company is full and needs changed... preferably to one with a brain... -
you just double talked yourself look were I changed the text to red.
34 hour reset is a duty status change you are off duty or in the sleeper for the 34 hours
you are not on duty and your not driving for those 34 hours
The reason dot may have not touched you is because they thought you were new and did not understand how to do your logs or mabey you just mistyped info on this forum.
