When is your cdl supposed to expire? How long is your arm going to be in a sling? If you just tore some stuff, shouldn't it be healed by december? If so, then the physical is no problem. If your license expires before then, just renew the license now while your med card is still good. I'm not sure I fully understand the dilemma.

My CDL doesn't expire in Decdmber. But if you don't renew your physical and "put it on your CDL" your A will go invalid and you'll just have your regular license then (according to the DMV). And I'm having surgery this month.....and they're talking anywhere from a 6-18 month recovery, depending on how it goes, before I could be back at work. My word I wouldn't complain being cleared by December. Haha

If your going to be out possibly 18 months, you should just register as an Intrastate driver. No proof of Physical required. You can just get a physical and change it back a few weeks before you need to go back on the road. I have never heard of any fees for changing that status on your license. I believe you can complete the changes yourself online. That being said the whole licensing process has become ridiculously cumbersome and expensive.
