This is probably not to far off from what your doing. Not all the time, but a lot of the produce companies have the same MO I think it's because they only deal with really one commodity not a bunch of different stuff like full line food service distributors do. 035.JPG

How do u guys deal with staying in this business??

Having to pick up fallen pallets in a hot trailer gets old after a while... Especially when it's the builders fault for making it so flimsy...

Well there not always bad sometimes the loads are alright and I figure it's just part of it. The best way I can describe it, is it's like you work through the bad spot and once you've worked through it, it's not so bad, out of sight out of mind. Like you see a hot chick running down the street and it's like wow hard not to notice her, but once she's off in the other direction totally forget about her. That's kind of a bad analogy, but once you get the mess straightened up and worked through you kind of don't dwell on it at least I don't.

I've only had one load recently that was so bad that it stuck with me all day and the warehouse got a whole scrap book album and the loader was dinged for all the damaged cases. I think I ended up crediting almost $400.00 in cases that day. Now what was stupid about that though was the rest of the truck freezer and dry were loaded just fine, doesn't make any sense sometimes.

In fact where I work they ding the loaders money from there pay for damaged cases. They don't ding them for the entire cost of the case, but still. Now be honest I don't mark damaged by loader very much it's kind of frowned upon and were not really supposed to only under the most extreme conditions.

This bad loads is an industry wide problem always has been you can read any food service thread from modern time right now to back 10 years ago and it's all the same bad loads trucks loaded incorrectly crushed cases the whole nine yards.

Now as truck guy says the loaders do not intentionally do this they are under the gun to produce and this is what happens.

Pretty similar. Although our back hauls sometimes involve picking up trees, flowers and plants for our garden center.

That would do it wouldn't it those cases don't always hold up very good to humidity and heat.

If I'm working in a hot trailer, I have bigger problems than a tipped pallet.

Yeah no kidding, I one time had a brand new trailer and the refer turned off and didn't turn back on again. I don't know what that was about.

I was with Reinhart for about 3 months last summer. I am glad to be out of that game. I couldnt handle it. I was sick everyday from the heat and hardly ever had a helper.

One thing I was fortunate with them on was for the first few weeks they keep you close to the yard as support to help guys falling behind or if guys dont show up etc. They taught me to drive a yard truck and I was moving trailers all day for them. I took that knowledge and ran with it. Driving a yard truck now and love it. Only lost $1.50 per hour.
