I've done both too. Teaching is much easier. You can make many
mistakes teaching, usually nothing happens. You make one mistake driving a truck and it's all over. Even it might not be your fault.
Then we have teachers and teachers. For example many teachers
in Chicago area make well over 100K and many retired ones receive
over 100K pensions.

Don't forget most of that is hazard pay...strong union in Chicago, most places don't have that level of leverage.

Its a few years old -.average cps salary is 70-76k.

With one of us he highest teacher student ratios in my he country, and are required to live in Cook County - a very expensive country to live in.
