Never heard of that show, but I don't have regular TV channels. I might look and see if it is on Netflix. You should see some of the tow bills people have gotten up here or in the Yukon. Two winters ago I guy tipped his truck over at Customs and I think it was $15,000 or $18,000 to upright the truck. They had over plowed the edge of the road and when he swung wide he found a whole lot of nothing.

I just checked and yes, Amazon does ship to Alaska free if your a Prime member. I think it costs $100 a year. You make it back pretty quick. No extra charge to ship to AK. They also ship to remote places up there now. It use to be just Anchorage and other large cities. I just looked all this up online.

Anyways, many parts you can get online and shipped. I looked up your hose and it's a fraction of the cost. Alternators, starters, AC compressors, pretty much everything!!!

Thanks for the research. I am a Prime member already and have an address I could use in Anchorage too. I carry a lot of stuff with me and I don't mind paying extra at a local shop. It keeps the relationship going and if I am really in a bind one day they are more likely to help me out too. That is my thinking and we will see how it works out. Seems like I do better with the small shops in BC than the shops and dealers in the US.

I am actually just having my oil pan gasket replaced under warranty and a service done here at Nadina Truck in Houston, BC. I can wander around the shop and be in my truck while they work on it. Everybody is friendly and helpful and I am really impressed.

You got to give Fairbanks some credit. It is not the city of lights like Anchorage, but for Alaska I would qualify it for a large city.

Not really OT...but from a parts man's perspective, and I've worked all the majors, ( KW PETE MACK DDA CAT CUMMINS)...Daimler has the most difficult, retarded, obtuse, arsebackwards system ever. Then...throw in WS & Sterling, as those numbering & cataloging systems can be vastly different from FL...and face it, Freightliner has much more product out there, and it makes it much more difficult to service you all. Never seen a more loyal bunch of owners though!

    Good luck.

Sprayed water gently this weekend from 3' away in between the air cleaner and hood, I was in the truck with a flashlight watching thru the vented portion of the heater box where the fresh air door is visible. Water came in like the door wasn't even there. Quick fix for now was gorilla tape, didn't retest afterwards. Ran thru some rain earlier today, there is still water getting in from somewhere, although not near as much as before. I'm about ready to get rid of this thing...

The saga continues on my truck. I had the input seal replaced on the rear drive a couple weeks back. That now makes five out of the seven seals on the drive axles. Stopped in at Nadina Truck in Houston, BC to get that done under warranty. The mechanic actually found the fuel leak that I had from day one as well. The gasket was damaged when the engine was assembled at the factory. The exhaust leak has gotten bad enough to be visible on the exhaust manifold and while he checked on that he found a new oil leak on the cam cover. I will have the exhaust manifold and cam cover fixed on this coming up trip when I come back from Alaska. Luckily I'm just about 2000 Miles shy at that point of the 200000mls where the warranty stops.
The heat system still drives me up a tree since on the last trip it decided to only blow hot for most of the trip. Obviously, when I was on the way back and close to Nadina Truck it started working again. I figured out how to stay somewhat comfortable while I had no temperature control for the heat and the window fogging actually got better. Go figure. There are days where I just want to get rid off the truck, but having paid it off in July and imagining the next truck could possibly be worse makes me just hang on to it.

Last trip the microwave went belly up and took out the inverter in the process and two days later the new fridge quit as well. Now that everything is fixed again I'm on my third inverter, second microwave and third fridge in a year and a half. I guess the roads going up there destroy anything I have. I must be a gluten for punishment or slightly retarded to keep doing what I'm doing.
