Oh the memories. Thanks lep. 2 stroke Detroit. @ free the twin sticks were pre air assist shifters. A main box and a auxiliary/brownie. None of my posts were meant to belittle any new drivers. Just an example of how important it is to learn to operate manual trannies. Heck when i started out there was no training and boy did i make some doosies. Good luck with your carrer. A professional driver is all about attitude and miles.

Oh that's not me starring in the video, I just found it on the inter webs...

Well I'm wondering if the difference is that I went through a big school, and they probably don't tell the DMV either way if their examiners are testing on automatics. There is nothing on my waiver to give to the DMV that says automatic. Hmm, that makes me wonder, the examiner had me try the manual mode on the automatic during the test just to demonstrate it. I guess I better be glad I got this before the loophole is uncovered. Shhh, don't tell. This school probably just has a deal with the state about this.

Whats your waiver to give to the dmv? Does the school test you and you walk into the dmv and get your hard card?
-
Also, this school offers a free 40 hour shifting refresher class to people who went through the automatic program, if you need to do a manual. So yes I'm guessing this school worked out a deal with the state where the license is not restricted as long as they offer additional training if needed.

Dats goofy man. Remind me not to go back to fl.....
J/kLepton1 Thanks this. -
Yes, this school has on-site examiners, so you don't take your test at the DMV. The school examiners are state licensed, and then enter your test results into the DMV system remotely at the school, and they give you a paper to take to the DMV that waives the skills and road tests at the DMV and they just print out your hard card.

FL does have a third party examiner but you can also go to the assigned DMV. And yes FL does have a transmission restriction just like the FMCSA's tells them to. Just read the DMV book for CDL's. It would be pretty stupid not to have one.

Several guys on here took the skills test in Florida and have the Automatic restriction. Member trucko took his last year in Florida and got the restriction, i dont know how he fixed that problem

Well all I know is I took my test in an automatic, and I'm looking at my hard card license right now and there is no restriction listed.
