What about cab to frame....that did the job for me.
-
Well to be honest i dont know what to do now oug..Everything i thought i understood about what my mfj was telli g me is not correct..
Im fustraited,in need of a cold drink of water and a punching bag..
Not many ham guys will take the time to help a newbie on the cb bands..Not many in my home area that i would go to anyways..Went to one and he tuneswith swr, impedence and r/x like i have been..With all that said and true marks coax shoud be perfect with minor adjustments but its not..Yet my old crappy coax i got from a trk stop cb shop conforms to what i thought i knew..
Like i said before..There is something im not getting/missing and i dont knlw where to go from here..Im just lost and ticked off at the moment..
Gotta calm down some before i get moveing and cross the scales a lil ways up the road...Dont need half a dozen dot cops beatin my ### cause i flipped one off and tellem where to go when he asks for my log book..72 hr blitz is on the go here now in canada..rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
From what I hear there's a bunch of metal panels that are glued together

About the only way to make a decent counterpoise is to gut the whole interior and line the inside with copper foil
-
Yeah..ill tear apart a company truck and get castrated..lol
Just confused why my truck stop cb shop coax is given me better #'s for the most part compared to marks coax....I totally expected to see a better set up with my non tuned mark sherman radio..
I just gotta go at it again with a fresh outlook and see whats happening.. -
I prefer a tunable counterpoise like the one NeverReady has.
It gives you complete control over the numbers -
Ridgeline has the best solution for that truck but I have the cheapest solution which probably will not work as well as Ridgelines solution but considering it's a company truck you have to deal with what you have without putting too much money and effort into it.
Just build a dipole to make the numbers look good and make your radio happy without blowing up your radio. That's the cheapest and easiest way to go without putting much effort into it -
I have been thinking this for a while now. It would only take the OP a couple of minutes to run a ground wire from the base of the antenna mount to a clean spot on the frame.Ougigoug Thanks this.

Various theories about grounding, I personally wouldn't run a ground from antenna all the way to the frame, but i have done many antenna to cab and cab to frame with success.
