How long was training OTR? I know they say plan on 3 weeks but that includes classroom time I was told. Heard OTR was usually only a week.. seems short.
Any SNI drivers?

Very short. If you don't FEEL road-ready, avoid the Pumpkin. I did.

Well I am deciding between doing a refresher course and going to Schneider or going to Britton Transport in ND. I am from the NW. I hear Britton mostly run East/SE and sometimes Canada and all autos. I'd prefer Western 11 tho. Any suggestions?
Someone mentioned why go all the way to ND? I am just confused if it's better to start with a company with many positives and long term or a company just to get training and go to one closer to the areas you want to run.Last edited: Jun 7, 2016

It's a total of three weeks. 1st and 3rd week mostly classroom and coupling/uncoupling/ backing as well as driving to optimize shifting ( power down/ skip shifting) , correct approach to intersections, cornering ......
.... Pre trip inspections....,
In the second week U will be out with a TE ( training engineer) over the road.
By the end of the third week you will take a road test before they assign you a truck,
SNI has high safety standards, which I feel is a good thing.
For you and for others.Friday, KriegHund and Rocknroller4 Thank this. -
If you're doing a refresher the 3 week pumpkin course will be just fine, unless you don't feel confident in your abilities.
If you post your location along with how long it's been since you've driven, @Chinatown should have some company suggestions.KriegHund Thanks this. -
Well, to start it's not training. It's orientation. And it's 3 weeks for new drivers. First week is in classroom and on the road with a trainer doing inspections, city and highway driving and backing. Second week is over the road with a training engineer. Doing everything with the TE there to help and teach. Then third week is classroom and a day of driving for the driving and Qualcomm test.
At the end of the week with the TE on the road if they feel like you're not ready to drive they'll send you out for a second week. You can also request to go out for a second week if you're not confident. I'm not sure what happens if you need a third week but I've a feeling that the result is you not driving a pumpkin.
The time with a trainer on the road is significantly shorter than most other companies. And it really depends on your confidence in your abilities whether you think it's going to be enough or not. One thing to keep in mind is that while it seems short, Schneider won't give you the keys unless all your trainers in orientation sign off on you. And their standards are fairly high. So don't expect to be pushed through, they take safety rather seriously here.Thull Thanks this.
