It would probably take 375 ground straps to bond all the different sections together on that truck

bored silly and Ougigoug Thank this.

Cascadia really seems to be a pain....remember the FLD120 the ground on those trucks was simply awesome, barefoot i have talk to the whole planet running 5.5 francis.

It's only a pain if you insist on not using a dipole otherwise it's quite simple.

Lucky me I don't deal with freightliner anymore, but if i had too i would go that road instead of trying to fix all the issues that come with the design.

He was suggesting i do a dipole on my cascadia cause of the differences in my readings from old to new better quality coax from mark sherman..My mfj 259b readings showed higher r #, x were better, impedence was higher and coefficient of reflection were down a good bit when they need to be up...He has been tryin to help me some.

An antenna with a tunable counterpoise.
Something along the lines of this picture with a tunable ground and tunable hot element .
[IMG] On a truck both sides would have to be shortened for practicality.

Reason for edit: not the most attractive looking thing but it worked

The different readings we're not the reason I suggested the dipole. The way the truck was constructed using glued metal panels is the reason I suggested the dipole.
Ridgeline got that truck dialed in but he had to rip the whole truck apart in order to do it and that is out of the question for most company drivers. I suggested the dipole from a company driver perspective since it's quick and easy and requires no modification to the truck.

That's one I built out of desperation for an International that had electrical current flowing through the sheet metal of the body.
The truck wasn't mine and I had no interest in fixing the problem .

Sometimes the easiest thing to do is isolate the antenna system from the body of the truck electrically for trucks with bonding issues or electrical issues.
I spent about 2 weeks dicking around with that International truck trying to use the body as a counterpoise and I finally gave up. It took me 5 minutes to add the tunable counterpoise and electrically isolate the antenna system from the mirror bracket.

I gotta do a lil reading....Talkin to hard drive thurs and gave me a cpl things to study up on..Been busy as hell with seeing my son as he heals and normal home stuff..lol seems only time i get to look into ant and radio stuff is when im on the road..lol..
Hard drive seems to think my ant is to high and my mount basically sucks so now i gotta come up with a new pan for my antenna..Gotta figure out how to get more metal under my ant or do a dipole type idea on my crapcadia..

Dont know if a siro or a 6ft skip shooter will do any better than my 10k..Principles should be the same though
