Friend of mine went to renew his TWIC said they wanted his passport. He doesn't have a passport. Wouldn't current TWIC serve as ID as long as it's not expired?

It actually stands for "Transportation Worker Identification Credential"

I still never got my TWIC, I am calling and checking status, but status is still being processed. I changed phone # and is it a problem if they want to contact me?
-
I'd have him talk to someone else. I've never needed my passport to renew my TWIC

Went in Monday, notified by email that has been mailed that Wednesday! I had HAZMAT so that probably expedited the process as IDENTOGO does all the processing for both Hazmat/TWIC. If it's in the mail to my house already I was wondering how long it may take to get to the house? Anyone else do this, and how long from notification to the mailbox did it take? Any help appreciated...Got a job waiting!

Right. Except the process is quicker if you already have a hazmat endorsement because you've already had the background check. At lease, that's the way it was four years ago.Spunasone Thanks this.

I live outside Chicago and I believe it took 4 business days, might of been 5.Spunasone Thanks this.

A TWIC card is a good thing to have in Chicago as the police will be able to identify your body quicker.

Update..... I received mine about 5 days ago and just hauled a load of BMW's out of Port of Dundalk-Baltimore.
