If this was really about safety, they should offer voluntary, penalty free, inspections. Guaranteed, no citations issued and only held if absolutely unsafe to be on the road. Then receive a sticker to put on your truck (if you get a pass) and be exempt from further inspections during the blitz, unless there is an extremely obvious safety issue that can be readily seen when going through the scale.
This would encourage drivers to stop in and get inspected so they can be safe. No revenue generating allowed.

Exactly! I unfortunately found myself in central and southern Ca. Red lighted at Wheeler Ridge at 4am and the pulled n a Ups truck for inspection. Got green lighted next day south bound Castaic and unbelievably green ligjted at the notorious Chowchilla.
Its amazing on how Light the truck traffic is. I looked around for all the trucks with 2 different color fenders and bumpers wired on. I saw mostly megas out there.
I keep my equipment up to par but heck if i could have stayed home i would. Y put yourself n a potential situation with a crooked cop. But if i was an OO i would run bc of lack of trucks. -
From what I saw the blitz was a bust. Some coops were busy working in the 6 states I traversed this week but just as many were closed. Strolled on thru being bypassed every time. Maybe they'll put on a real blitz next week and catch all of the bubble gum, duct tape, & baling wire trucks by surprise. It would still suck also having to run that gauntlet but would be worth it.

Work nights. Cause of my night schedule I've rolled open scales only once or twice in the 3 days. When I work tonight it will be all over. Past 4 years I've had only 1 inspection at one of these blitzes and for the 4 years. I roll this nice purtty Reddaway equipment too.

Ah crap this is the O/O forum. Posted in the wrong one. Lol.

I really don't care what guys run as long as it has good breaks and tires. I've been lucky I started like that and built up some nice equipment.
-
You're right. What I'm talking about are the bald tires and stacks flopping around. Fairings hanging by a thread. Steer tires hopping, bouncing, shaking from bad king pins or tie rod ends. You've seen these kind of trucks out here before. Usually around big cities.

Anyone that has any time around trucks understands if they are safe or not. I had a steer go on me not to long ago. It was a good tire "I thought". I told my wife after that nothing older than 2 year old tire will be on the front of any of my equipment. I understand a guy trying to get up and going and people like us should advise them any chance we get. I've gave SOL drives rides and all kind of stuff. I just hope if it's my turn to break down who knows where someone will lend me a hand up.

NYC and parts of Jersey I've seen a bunch of that stuff to.
